InactiveOk, so against my best judgement…….I decided to talk to the lady (whom I thought was a friend of mine) about the situation. I started off by saying, so I am sure that you know about the email that I got over the weekend? She answered, I did not know that he was going to email you, but I knew that he was going to say something to you……this was said as if she was defensive about what I was asking. Now, I am going to say this that I did not argue once, I was calm and did not want to get upset.
Anyways…..I said that I would have appreciated a heads up about what was going to happen. Again, answering defensively, she stated that she did not want to get involved and that if I had problem with this that I should go and talk to the principal about it. I explained that I have already talked to him and the problem was not with him, but rather that I thought that I would have gotten a call from her to at least get a heads up. Then she started screaming at me that she has enough on her plate and that she was not even thinking about what he was doing……oh I forgot about the most important thing, she said that he asked for her password and she asked him if he had one, he said no. So she gave him her password to get into the IEP files. So it was really the principal who went into the files, but still she gave him her password and did not even think that it was odd.
You know, I understand that she has alot on her plate, but I still do not understand why she would have thought that him asking for her password to be odd? I have to tell you ladies that she had absolutely no guilt or worry about what she did……….so what am I supposed to think about that one? I then decided to just walk out and say,”ok”. Well not more than 5 minutes later as I was finished with my morning IEP meetings, I see her in the back in the work room talking to one other teacher along with the principal himself talking about what we had spoken about…….and the reason why I knew this was because they were pretty obvious with getting quiet when I walked up. Then I truly found out the he knew because at the end of the day, I was walking by his office (which door was wide open) and heard him say to his pets (2 teachers who get to do whatever they want to do whenever they want to; double standards)……….and I heard him say “……and she wanted a forewarning”….then they got quiet……….I then heard one of the ladies say,”well she’ll learn not to do that (or something like that).
So ladies, what do think about that? How can I be such an idiot to think that she would take our friendship the way I would? I am truly upset and hurt that she would not even have the courtesy to just let me know. I would not have said anything that would let the principal know that I knew anything.
I know that you ladies probably think that I was crazy I asked her about it because my husband said that as far as she knew, this situation was over and then I brought up to her, which she probably thought I was starting an argument (which I wasn’t). So it started the situation again, but I told him that I had to ask her because I had to know what really happened and I did. But now, I know that she did not value our friendship as much as I did. She was looking out for herself and only herself, so now that is how I am going to be with her. One day, I am sure she will need something from me (or maybe not) and I am not going to do anything for her…….it is all about me now. But you know what? I am really not like that at all………this is going to be quite difficult!!
So ladies, would you have wanted to know the truth or would you rather have left it alone? I, myself, needed to know for my own sanity. If I was put into that situation, I would have definitely thought it was weird and call her what had happened.

InactiveLooking at the situation now, I think you did the right thing. I can’t believe adults would sit there and talk about you behind your back. Just come to you for crying out loud.
I am so glad I am a sahm after reading this. I remember what it was like. You hold your head up and know that you are a good person and you did the right thing.April 28, 2007 at 10:30 am #31685Anonymous
InactiveI’m a lot like you. I always want to put my cards on the table and get everything out in the open, but sometimes that can get you into some uncomfortable situations because not everyone is able or willing to be as open and honest. I’ve learned that sometimes it’s best to just let things go, but I do find it very difficult to sweep things under the rug. It’s just not my style and everyone who knows me knows that about me.
Remember, you are always respectable person if you are being yourself! You don’t have anything to be ashamed about and you’ve learned something you probably needed to know about who you can trust and who you cannot.

InactiveOffice politics are the least favorite part of my job. And principals that play favorites are one of my pet peeves. Now you know to keep everything to yourself, do your job and get the heck out of their at the end of the day. Hopefully that principal will be gone soon and you’ll be able to get a fresh start!

InactiveThanks ladies!!! I have been told on another site that I should not be angry with her because they feel that she did the right thing. But they also said that they would of done the same thing. I understand, but I guess I am different……I am really big on loyalty and respect of others at your work place. I really do not think that you can get anywhere by being like this because sooner or later it will catch up to you. And even if you are at the top, you will be REALLY lonely because no one will want to work for you or be around you……don’t you think ladies?
