InactiveYes, I’m so happy right now. I talked Ariella’s GI dr into upping her dosage to 30 mgs. When he asked me “how is she doing?” I made up the story “one day, we gave her 15 mgs tablet twice “by accident” (DH gave her one and I didn’t know so I gave her one more) and she was a totally different baby”. So he goes “fine, then let’s try 30 mgs”. I couldn’t believe it b/c last visit he refused to do it saying that Prevacid is not approved for such young infants to begin with and 15 mgs is good for a child up to 66 lbs, etc…Now he told me that it’s possible that her insurance may not approve the increase in dosage, does that make sense?? I’ve already used her insurance to get the Prevacid so if they already approved the meds, what difference does it make what the dosage is? Did anyone hear of such a thing? I hope I have no problems with it b/c it took me such a long time to talk him into it!!

Inactiveyeah, insurance companies will do that. i have been having our pharmacist speak with them. (that is if you have a willing pharmacist…if you dont, you may need them to look at the marci-kids.com info) im glad he approved the 30 mgs! good luck!

InactiveHi Marianna,
That’s great that your doc increased the dose!
I really hope it makes a difference. When we got an increased dose (and had recently got the medicine filled) our pharmacist just had to call the insurance company and let them know that the dosage was increasing. It wasn’t a big deal at all. We’ve had it happen a couple of times with different medicines.Good luck!

InactiveYour dh is certaily not the first on this board to be blamed for slipping in an extra dose!
I’m glad that little fib worked for you and I hope the 30 mgs is the miracle cure for her like it was for my little guy.
I’m not sure about the insurance question. We paid $117 a month for Myles’ prevacid. I never thought to question it but maybe we paid so much because of the high dose.

InactiveI had to get an exception to have Brianna on some of the medicines I had her on. Usually if your DR will fill out his form saying you tried other things and it didn’t work then they will approve you. However, for me, as long as the Dr wrote the script for 30 mg tabs I didn’t need special approval. The drugs retail cost was the same at the store (weird I know) so I guess they didn’t care. Good l uck!
