InactiveThat’s great information! Did you just go today? What did he do?… was it the skin prick test?
Do you have any history of food allergies in your family? Just curious b/c we have no history of food allergies. DH has bad environmental allergies and I’ve wondered about food allergies for Hailey now that we’re going on 2 and still dealing with this cr*p. I talked to the ped about it today, and he still said “no, I think it’s an immature LES, not allergies. She doesn’t have any symptoms”… to which I just sighed and admitted defeat. We have one of the best peds in the city, but I know that he’s off on this one. I’m going to talk to him again in two weeks when we go back for her next shot.
Hopefully this is the answer for you.

InactiveLori~ I am sorry your ped. is so closed minded

jk. I cant remember what you have hailey on.. i think goodstart right? and you said she wont take anything else?? is it AT ALL possible to try something like vanilla rice milk and add something like coconut or flax oil to it or her diet and see if she gets any better. because i would think @ two there was something else behind it.. i mean how long can her LES be immature!? I dont know, i would try and look into it a bit more… if at all possible. As for my family.. YES there are allergies.. none of my brothers or sisters have any.. but my moms family ( my aunts and uncles and cousins) all have dairy/ and or peanuts. and my husbands is more like outside allergies and ahsma(sp?) soo the doc thinks he will have food allergies now.. but than hay fever when he gets older.
well.. let me know if you can pursue it with hailey any further….

InactiveI’m so glad that the testing went well! It’s possible that the dots were only slightly raised because he hasn’t had much exposure to them so the allergies are still in the beginning stages. He said to totally avoid them because that’s the best way to keep them from developing into full blown allergies. It also gives his little body a chance to outgrow the little bit of allergy that he is showing right now.

InactiveLauren,
I was just going to mention that most people are allergic to the egg whites not the yolks.. so maybe when things settle down and you get everything figured out you can try him with just the yolks…Also, just wondering – are you still thinking of trying the goat’s milk? Or are you going to stick with soy?

Inactivehi heather.. i did want to do goats milk but the allergist said no.. that since he showed up a little allergic to cows milk that it was too much of a risk right now.. because the goats and cows do cross similar protiens. which i did know about as well.. it didnt concern me before but he seemed addiment(sp?) about it…so i didnt want to push it, plus i would like to get all animal protiens (not the meats though) out of him and see how it goes. if the soy doesnt go well i will def. give the goats a try.. and even if the soy goes well i plan on trying it anyway maybe when he is like 18 mos or even closer to 2.

if the soy doesnt go well he may be MSPI. and since he is already sensitive to milk he prob wont be able to handle goats either. i think you might need to do something like rice milk, almond milk is great and not part of the allergenic nut group, or hemp milk.

InactiveThat’s probably a good idea to wait on the goat’s milk, and like you said, you could always try it when he’s older. Good luck with the soy!
