Hey EveryoneI wasn’t quite sure what catagory my post fell under so I just put it here! Thanks again to all you moms who have given me such incredible advice and compassion for our situation. You know who you are! It truly has meant the world to me!
Our dram however continues….Quick update on Kate. She’s still gaining weight! Yay! Our new ped just upped her dose to 30mg/day of prevacid! Another victory! I just started TED because I’m sure she has some intolerance of some kind, probably multiple ones, so hopefully this will pinpoint it better. I remain hopeful! She is now back to sleeping in her bassinet through the night for the most part which is awesome too. She’ such a trooper through all of this, she continues to be a pretty happy baby during the day with lots of smiles and gurgles. Love em!Of course tons of spitting up, painful hiccups, coughing, choking, and fussing but I’ll take the smiles when I can!!!
Our issure of course is still the traumatic feeding sessions. She continues to show Sandifer symptoms at every feed now which breaks my heart in two. Its awful to watch. I don’t know what else to do but wait and see if the meds work. I bought that book, “Colic solved” which is amazing if anyone gets a chance in the midst of the screams and fussing to pick it up. It is so validating especially when you’ve been told by so many in the medical community that your kid just has colic. Arrrg! Thanks for reading!

InactiveWe just increased Cooper’s prevacid to 15mg/day from 7.5, and the doc told me to wait about 2 weeks to see good results. So I would say to try and “tough” it out for 2 weeks esp since you just started the TED which should take about 2 weeks as well before all the proteins and such get out of your system and I am praying for you all that you end up with a totally happy baby after that…. Cooper is so much better now that he is on Nutramigen and even after only 1 day of the higher prevacid I see an even happier baby… I hope the same happens for you.

InactiveHi Claire,
It sounds like you’re moving in the right direction.
I’m glad you were able to get her Prevacid dose increased! Good luck with the higher dose and with the TED! I bet in a couple of weeks you’ll have a much happier baby. I sure hope little Kate gets some relief soon.May 26, 2007 at 10:23 am #34536Anonymous
InactiveHang in there! Myles did not improve until day 10 on 30 mgs, even though he’d been on a lower dose for many weeks. Most moms say it takes two weeks to see the full effect of the right dose. Previous to that 10th day on 30 mgs I used to describe feeding Myles as an ORDEAL. It was so bad that I used to dread feeding time. The right dose of Prevacid turned things around.

I hope you see the big change soon!

It sounds like things are getting at least a little better. Thank you so much for updateing use. Please keep the updates coming. I would love to know how things are going after a few weeks of the higher dose of meds and TED. I know how hard TED can be, but it is so worth it. You do eventually get used to all the changes too. We are having a family vacation soon and I have no idea what I’m going to do. We can’t do beef or dairy. It is a real easy fix, but one that I don’t think my husbands family will want to do just for me and Justice. I also don’t want them to make a fuss over us so I will probably be doing lots of pb&j sandwiches. Enough about us though. I am so excited to see how things are going in a few weeks.

InactiveI am so glad that you got the higher dose of prevacid and are giving TED a go. I bet things will really improve between the 2.
I understand how hard it is to feed a baby with wild Sandifer symptoms. It is like that daily with Landen. We see a new GI on 6/13 and I am so hopeful to get the 30mg of prevacid like you! Let us know how Kate is doing on it. p.s. looks like Landen & Kate are almost birthday buddies

InactiveHey Claire,
Glad to hear that your doctor upped her dose. Hopefully this will provide both of you with a bit of relief! You both sure deserve it.
Best of luck with the TED too. Man, it totally sucks, but I think it helped my little guy and I’ve added almost everything back in now. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a cheeseburger though!

InactiveSo glad to hear that you got the dose increased. I’m sure that along with the TED will help. I might wait a few weeks after the med change before doing the TED, only b/c otherwise it might be hard to figure out what caused the change.
