InactiveOK, now I’m going to have the Jefferson’s theme song stuck in my head all day!
Just wanted to update everyone that we’re in the process of moving! HOORAY! We don’t close on the house until Thursday but she was completely out on Saturday and they’re letting us move stuff INTO the house already! What a relief! We’ve been taking loads over the past two days and have made a lot of progress! I start teaching summer school tomorrow so my mornings will be shot, but at least my afternoons will still be free to help move. Sarah is going to stay at my mom and dad’s Friday night, Saturday night, AND Sunday night. GASP! I honestly don’t know if I’ll be OK without her!!! Her tube surgery is scheduled for Monday in the town where my mom and dad live (2hrs away) so DH and I will drive up there Sunday night to be ready to go Monday morning to the hospital. That’s what is going on here! I have already told DH that the computer will be the LAST thing that we pack/move!

Inactiveaww bitter sweet news!! its awsome that you are moving.. soo exciting!! but i know what its like to leave the baby. we did it for 4 days when we went to visit GA to look for homes… but it wasnt as bad as i thought! the 4th day got very hard! but you only have 3
and you should TRY to relax if at all possible and use it as some alone time with your hubby
. anyways.. i hope your move and sarahs tubes go smoothly and keep me updated with how the surgery goes!

InactiveBest of Luck with the move, it is always a pain and having the added stress of her tube surgery coming up probably doesn’t help matters. But just think of all the great memories you will be getting ready to make in the new house.

InactiveSuch an exciting time for all of you. A new house and brand new “ears” for Sarah!
Hope everything goes smoothly.May 29, 2007 at 10:33 am #34784Anonymous
InactiveGood luck with the move and the surgery! I hope all goes well with the move and that the surgery really helps Sarah’s ear problems. I’m sure you’ll be SO glad when it’s all over and done with.

InactiveAmy, good luck with everything. Hope the move and the surgery will go smoothly. You’re already done with the school year? Wow, in NYC the school year does not end until June 28th.

InactiveMarianna, I was amazed when I moved from NY to the midwest. School here starts the last week of August and is out by the third week in August! People can’t believe it when I tell them that school goes until late June in NY. (We get fewer days off during the year).

InactiveOne big difference between the NE and the mid-atlantic is spring break. In the NE, we had two breaks – one in Feb and one in April. When I moved to VA, we only get one. It makes a big difference at the end of the year.
Good luck with the move and surgery, Amy!

InactiveThanks for the well wishes everyone!!!
Wow! Our last day was the 25th of May! We started the 20 something-ish of August. We don’t have long breaks (a week for Christmas and a week for Spring Break) mixed in with Thanksgiving and random holidays. Just a few hours north of us, several schools don’t get out until the 1st or 2nd week of June so I guess it just varies. I went to HS in Chicago and we always went far into June.
So I’m going to add another kink to our crazy lives. My DH teaches at a school 25 minutes from home (about 18 miles away). Gas has been a killer for us and the time spent away from home really sucks. Last year he accepted a HS baseball coaching position in the town where we live. His hope was to eventually get hired on at that high school teaching. Well, it seems like that has happened for us b/c the principal just called and offered him a position. I’m excited because our new house is less than a block from the high school!!! The downfall is that DH will have to take 3 classes this summer in order to be qualified to teach the position they are offering. What a hectic summer!!! It will definitely all be worth it once it’s over but it will suck in the meantime!

InactiveWow! Congratulations on dh’s new job!
That’s too bad about the summer classes, but I guess it’s the price you have to pay for a positive change. The gas savings will be great for you!

InactiveAmy, congrats on Dh’s new job. Being close to work is ALWAYS a plus especially when you have kids.
In NYC, we have long breaks. A week for Christmas, a week for President’s Day (President’s week) and a week for Easter. We end our school year end of June and start it the Wednesday after Labor day.
