Thanks everyone. I’m going to try to not give it to him too much at bedtime. He can fall asleep without it, so hopefully that won’t change.

I do think it is related to his ear infection. He is still swiping at his ears quite a bit, so there must be some fluid still in there. Could be that he is teething a bit too. Still no teeth for him, so it’s about time I guess.

Has been kind of nice to be able to give it to him when he’s fussing though… and he stops! I know, I know.. you’re not supposed to use it for that, but we do what we can, right?

Our kids were all addicted to pacifiers. With our middle – Jeremy – I had to bribe him SO BAD when he was almost 3. He wanted a bubble lawn mower that our neighbor had. He already had one – it just didn’t blow bubbles. So, I told him that we would get him the bubble lawn mower IF he would give me his Nuk. I told him we had to give it to a baby at church. Anyway, it was hard. He ended up sleeping with that darn bubble lawn mower in his bed UNDER the covers with him for several days. Not like you can suck on the wheel or anything!!

My kids were never blankie babies so I think this is their security. I don’t see a whole lot wrong with it – and we don’t let him run around with it in his mouth – only when he is having a horrible day but he does use it during naps and beddy time.

That’s so funny…because Dagney is the same way!! There they go again copying each other!!

Dagney would never take a pacifier, she’d always spit it out, but around 2 months she started to really like it, but by 3 1/2 months she rejected it totally. Well, now that she’s at my MIL’s all day and my neice (whom my MIL also watches during the day) always has a pacifier, Dagney occasionally tries taking it from her and putting it in her mouth!! I’m not sure if it’s the pacifier she wants, or just something to chew on, since everything goes in her mouth right now, but it hasn’t seemed to become an issue, so we’re just taking it away whenever she does seem to get it.

Kaelyn always refused to take a pacifier. Then around 7 months old she found one lying around the house, started chewing on it to help with teething, and now she won’t sleep without one.
