Okay, I just read my last post on the meds from Lori are you out there!

I made a typo so I wanted you all to look over it again and give your opinions.

Owen is close to 16 lbs plus….. He takes 2ml of 3MG TWICE daily.

Is that a little closer to reasonable or are we still way under normal dosing?

Do they up Prevacid by age? That’s what my doc said and what I’m getting from Marcikids, but I just wanted others ideas??????

I feel like a new mom!

So, he’s getting 6 mls twice per day (if it’s a 3 Mg’s per ML suspension). That’s still low by marci-kids standards, but lower doses do work for some babies. It’s really important to make sure the compound is being made properly because if it’s not it doesn’t matter how much you give him, it won’t work.

To figure out his dose per marci-kids you’d use the Lansoprazole chart because Prevacid is Lansoprazole. For an 8 mos old they reccommend 1 – 1.5 mgs per kg of body weight. 16 lbs is 7.27 kgs. So he should (by marci-kids standards) be getting minimally 7 or 8 mgs / three times per day and up to 10.9 mgs three times per day.

2 ml twice a day of a 3mg/ml suspension is still 12 mg daily which is still not what marci-kids.com recommends. also, your compound isnt being made properly so that in itself makes it ineffective, even if you did have the correct dose.

when i switched to caracream, i wasnt aware that i was supposed to give 3.5 ml at a time, in order for there to be enough sodium bicarb to prevent the drug from being degraded in the stomach. so basically, in that time i had a baby who was basically on no meds at all. since there wasnt enough buffer, the meds became ineffective. he was super fussy and had trouble during feedings. once i started giving the med properly it totally changed.

i would keep on being persistant and do not hesitate to call marci-kids yourself.
