InactiveHas anyone tried Goat’s milk with there toddler? I saw it at the grocery store with the other milks. Is it safe? Is rice or soy milk better for dairy allergies? I keep reading so many bad things about soy and rice milk does not have all of the vitamins, fats, proteins etc… I just do not know what to do. Any information would be great.

Inactivei am not going to goats milk route because everything i have read says if they have probs with cows milk protein there is a good chance they will have probs with goats milk protien.
our plan was to keep Trace on neocate until 2, but the last few weeks he has refused it.
there is no way i would ever do soy with him….so, i am doing pacific brand almond milk as it has the highest amount of fat and protein and least amount of sugar. i also sometimes do the westsoy brand rice milk. i also sneak in some scoops of neocate into that.
i make sure to feed him a good diet with lots of good fats like avacodo, olive oil, and flax seed oil, and things like lima beans and lentils for protein and iron…along with meats, etc.
and to answer your question is goats milk safe…its perfectly safe, and IMO, is superior to cows milk as the protein is more similair to human milk, and our babes certainly arent calves, they are humans.

but every babe is different, what may work for one may not work for another. i have heard several success stories with goats milk.

i agree with natalia.

InactiveHi Cindy,
My son is on partial goat’s milk and has always done well with it. We started using it to fortify his breast milk (for extra calories) when he was only about 3 months old because he couldn’t tolerate formula. It made a huge difference for him. So anyway, I definitely think it would be worth a try!
You could always stop it if he seems to not tolerate it. Good luck!June 11, 2007 at 10:08 pm #36390Anonymous
InactiveThank you for all of your help.
I am going to get some at the store in the morning. I did a search on all of the milks on the board. Great info. I feel like I am just going crazy, and my husband thinks I am

InactiveOne of my friends has her 2 year old on goats milk (and has had since she weaned). For some reason she can’t tolerate cows milk at all but can the goats. Like everything, its probably specific to the child. Goodluck and I hope it works.

InactiveI do neocate/goats milk 50/50 for my 8mo. old ds. It’s worked like a charm for us, but every lo is so different!
My son wouldn’t take neocate very well b/c we went cold turkey from bm to neocate and I think it was a taste issue. The doc told me if neocate didn’t work, our next route would be goats milk. He was refusing the neocate, so I decided to mix the two and the first bottle I gave him was the first 5 oz he ever drank an entire bottle at once.
I just watched him really closely for the first 2-3 weeks and also didn’t introduce any other new solids @ the time I was trialing it. Good luck if you try it! It’s been a life saver and money saver!!!!!

Inactiveand i think goat’s for us did help way better than cows. i forgot to mention ;)… the cows caused his excema.. and the goats didnt. but it didnt seem to “cure” his sleep issues.. thats why we are not currently having him on it.
g’luck with the goats!
