InactiveOkay, I need all your help again. Can I mix the Zegerid 40mg dose with mylanta buffer in a bottle with a teensy bit of bm? Kate chokes EVERY time and I’m waiting for her to turn blue if I don’t find another way to give it. Any ideas??

InactiveYes! I tried this myself, but Ben never took a bottle.
I know several moms put it in about 1 oz. of formula/bm and give it that way. Just make sure she drinks it all, so she gets all the medicine.

InactiveYay! Thanks Naomi! I did it anyway hoping it would be okay. What was the TUMS that you use again?

InactiveDid it work for her? Was she able to get it down? Hopefully, with time, she will be able to take it easier. It was a big struggle for a bit with Ben, but he sucks it down now!

We use the Smooth Dissolve in the Tropical Fruit flavor. The other flavors have milk in them.

InactiveYes! She was half asleep but the great thing about Kate is she’ll take the medicene from the bottle and then nurse right after. Does the Mylanta cause extra spit up? Today after both her doses she spit up over my shoudler. Not HUGE projectile but it made a PLOP sound on the carpet. Good thing bm doesn’t stain!!
…..actually maybe the last time it was because I was trying to answer the phone and burp her at once right after she ate…..hmmmmmmmmm
Thanks for the tip!!June 26, 2007 at 9:33 pm #38062Anonymous
InactiveWe gave Sarah her zegerid in a bottle until she was 9 or 10 months old. She did great with her “medicine bottle”. It was just 1oz of formula mixed. When she got sick with her worst ear infection to date and wouldn’t take the bottle for anything…I freaked out about trying to get her medicine down and decided to try to just squirt it in…she did just fine! I’m soooooooo glad I don’t have 3 extra dr. brown’s bottles/parts to wash everyday anymore!! BUT the medicine bottle was our lifesaver for a LONG time! Hopefully you won’t need to do it forever, but you definitely CAN!

InactiveI was informed that babies can’t process the calcium in tums like we can.
They can get overloaded and can become a problem. Their ?Kidneys? or
something aren’t fully developed.
Is this just for younger children like mine?

InactiveInteresting about the Tums. We were told to use them by Dr. Phillips.. helped create Zegerid, so I felt pretty safe using them. I would be interested to know more though.
