since my son was put on zantac his reflux is alot better but his eating has changed, hes eating less but more often. Is that normal? he was eating 5-6 oz. every 5 hours or so but now hes wanting to eat every 3 hours, even though he will only eat 4 oz. when i try and hold him off to keep him on his schedule he gets upset. hes 4 months old. all and all hes now actually getting more formula but i thought as they get older they eat further apart, not closer together??!! could these have something to do with the meds??
Cooper at one time was taking 6oz every 4.5-5hrs. Now he is taking 7oz every 3.5hrs sometimes 3hrs, just depends. I am very type A and tried that whole keeping them on a “schedule” but you really can’t do that. If they are hungry, you gotta feed them and if they aren’t hungry when they should be… then they just won’t eat… They are in control of that much if nothing else at this age.
My guess is that it is just a growth spurt or developmental change, not the zantac. I remember when Sarah was that age I was exclusively pumping and at about 2, 4 and 6 months it seemed like I was running out of milk FAST because she was eating so much more and more often for a few days and then it would taper off. I’d keep an eye on it and if it continues for longer than a few weeks and you’re still concerned then maybe try switching meds? Good luck!
That’s funny. Kate was the same way for awhile. She was eating every three hours for awhile and then all of a sudden it was every two and a half. Schedules are tricky with reflux babes b/c when they wanna eat, I say feed them but that’s just me. I’m not into schedules, just routine. Anyway, I wouldn’t worry either. If he’s feeling better and eating period, take it!!!
