InactiveOr could it be the ear infection he is getting over? Since starting the Zegerid Landen has terrible gas, he now wakes 4-5 times a night. He no longer wants to eat without a fight and a huge fuss. His daycare says he cries a lot during the day now, he is just overall irritable.
I know it’s only been less about 6 days but I am scared to death he’s turning into that miserable baby again. It just seems to be I cannot blame all of this behavior on the ear infection. He is almost done with the antibiotics anyway.Do you think giving the AB’s and the Zegerid close together are messing up the Zegerid? Otherwise, I am at a loss. I was really really pumped up about the zegerid and cannot stand to think we need to go back on solutabs.

InactiveJill!!!
OMG I am so sorry Landen seem so much worse
That is so terrible especially considering how excited you were for the Zegerid. Yuck. I have no experience with ear infections….yet, but I REALLY am hoping for your sake that you don’t have to do solutabs.I just know how frustrating they’ve been for you. I feel your pain, we were there too. I’ve been trying to pm you about the stuff I was going to send you(code
)and was wondering if you still want it but your mailbox was full. Anyway, I’m getting off track. I hope things get better with the Zegerid or you realize, yay, it was just the ears. Things will get better soon I hope
Oh, and tell Landen happy belated 4 month B-day!!!! Yay!!! Kate was really excited about hers

InactiveThanks Claire,
I feel like an idiot, I had no Idea my MB was full! I just cleaned it out. LOL!!!
Happy 4 mos Kate!!! YAY!!! Landen was very excited too. He def found is voice recently. LOL. You know when he is awake in the morning. He practices a set of voice patterns and warms up for the day. LOLI really hope it is the ears. Maybe he has a virus on top of the ear thing and it’s throwing me off. Maybe he is hungry for solids? I just don’t know.

InactiveColton has had terrible gas on Zegerid and its sad to say but some babies just don’t do as well on Zegerid. I really hope this isn’t the case for you. Antibiotics can also cause gas so I think I would give it another week and see. You are in a bad postion because he is on two different things right now. I just read you are giving Neocate too that also causes gas. Ugg. Can you try some Mylicon for now just to see if it will help. We put two droppers full of Mylicon in every bottle. It has helped us and it might be worth a try.

InactiveIt’s only been 6 days? Maybe he needs a little more time to adjust? Sarah had terrible gas and a little diarrhea when we first started zegerid until her body adjusted (about 10-14 days later). Things were GREAT after that. Don’t give up too soon…those ear infections can be rather pesky!! Sarah lived with pretty much a constant ear infection from 4 months until 13 months when we got tubes. It ALWAYS made life more difficult because it was a guessing game…ears? reflux? ears? teeth? ears?
That being said, some babies really don’t do well on zegerid so if worse comes to worst…at least you know you can try the solutabs again.
GOOD LUCK and hang in there!

InactiveBoo hoo Jill, so sorry to hear this! I was going to suggest too that maybe his antibiotics aren’t doing the trick. You may want to take him back in to get them checked out.
Also, I mentioned this in your other post, but perhaps switching him to the 40 mg. packs of Zegerid would help with the gas?July 5, 2007 at 8:29 pm #38662Anonymous
InactiveAbby also didn’t do well on Zegerid. She spit up loads more and was way more irritable and stopped sleeping all night. So we went back on the solutabs. Have you thought about trying the Prevacid packets and Caracream?
