InactiveI’ve posted on here before about how my hair was (and still is a bit) falling out so much since giving birth to Ben. Well, it’s started growing back in, and I don’t know if it’s the new growth or just the hormones, or what, but it’s curly! I’ve lived 31 years with stick straight hair, and now there is definite wave. WEIRD!! I got it cut recently after letting it get way overgrown, and the style was one that I had before (when straight), but it look ridiculous now with all the wave.
I need some help from you curly haired gals. How do I tame this mane?July 18, 2007 at 9:04 pm #39494Anonymous
Inactivei have heard about hair changing after having a baby
let me tell you..i have prayed for straight hair my whole life!haha..but i know straight haired girls have always wanted curly!
as for how to tame it? well.. i blow dry it with a really good blow dryer and good thick round brush.. and get it straight that way.. but than i go over it with a straightening iron to get it less puffy and even straighter..July 18, 2007 at 9:47 pm #39496Anonymous
InactiveIsn’t that weird how your hair changes? My hair didn’t go curly, but it got really dark! I was blonde my whole life until I was pregnant with Isaac. Now I’m totally brunette.

InactiveMy hair does more of a spiral than a wave…but here’s my advice
nonetheless. If you are trying to achieve a nice wave with no
frizz…DON’T brush it! I don’t even own a hairbrush!! I keep my hair
in a towel for 10 minutes after the shower (while I do my makeup) and
then apply a leave in frizz cream. I make sure when I’m applying it
not to overly run my fingers through my hair (or it separates my curls
and makes them more frizzy). Then I take individual curls and spiral
them with my fingers to give them shape and definition. (not my entire
head, just the top layer) Next I apply a sprunch spray (don’t know if I
really need this step but I’ve always done it) and I finish with a
curly hair mousse. I scrunch it up into my hair and continue to define
each curl if needed. THEN I let my wet hair “sit” for another 10-15
minutes with product in it to air dry a little more and I finish by
blow drying with a diffuser. Letting my hair air dry a little more with the product makes a huge difference in the end…again, not sure why. I don’t really touch my hair while
blow drying…I just hold the diffuser up to different sections and
continue to scrunch it up as needed.Boy that sounded really complicated but trust me…once you get the
hang of it curly hair is soooooooooo easy! It takes me about 10
minutes to do my hair (product and blow drying that is) so it’s
simple. I put a pic. of me in this post and couldn’t get the file size not to be HUGE so I just deleted it!
Hope this helped! It took me a LONG time to figure out how to do “curly hair”! At least if Sarah winds up with curly hair she won’t have those awkward years like I did. She’ll have a good teacher!

InactiveWell I had curly hair prior to having Cooper, but it has gotten curlier since I gave birth…. I didn’t expect that, but oh well. So I either just let it air dry with mouose(sp?) or I blow it dry and make it straight and then use a straightening iron to get the poofyness out. I usually air dry in the summer and blow dry in the winter as I have very thick hair as well so it takes up to 4-5hrs for it to air dry completely.

InactiveI’m also part of the curly hair bunch, more loose spirals than waves. But I also have fine hair so it can be tricky. I can straighten it with a lot of effort by blow drying but it always has a bit of wave to it. Most days I do a similar but more basic routine to Amy.

Inactiveohh yea! i used to do the mouse/ curl scrunching thing when i had long hair.. now i cut it off, and if i did that i would look like a clown.
but it does look nice long, and than i would pull it all up and make like a messy bun thing with it.. easy and pretty.

InactiveThanks everyone! I’ll have to take a look at the drugstore for the curly hair products. Never shopped in that section in my whole life, but I guess I need to.
And Heather, mine got darker too! I don’t like it this dark, so I’m thinking highlights for sure!!!

InactiveAdding myself to the curly hair bunch. My hair has always been very curly and very frizzy! after spending tons of money on curly hair product, this is what is working for me rigt now. I use the tresemme shampoo and conditioner, i get as much water as possible with the towel, then blow it more with the blower to get it drier, then use a “scunci” hair brush to finish up. This is the only hair brush i have found dries my hair fast and with good results. i also have a very hight heat hair drier. before that though, i put “Studio Heat Seeker Hot Straight” straightening cream from L’Oreal. The L’Oreal curly hair line works really well for my hair type. i have short hair, so it takes me like 20 minutes to get it done. I wash my hair every other day as it is hard to keep up my hair with all the stuff i have to do. I use the blower in bewtween just to get in shape again. i hope that helps.
