InactiveHow do you clean them? Do you just throw them in the washing machine? Dryer? I am very clueless about laundry and most household tasks in general (
) so I was wondering. Sarah has taken a real attachment to one of MY old stuffed animals. It makes me cringe b/c I know how old and dirty it probably is. I’m afraid if I wash it though it will fall apart (it is already shedding like crazy). It may just have to “disappear” one day while she’s napping…but I still need to clean HER animals. InactiveI put the ones that Cooper spits up on in the washer in a lingere bag while I wash his clothes on the gentle cycle. And I have been throwing them in the dryer unless is says not to on the gentle cycle as well. I even had one that plays music and it still works after the washer. I didn’t dry that one, i was afraid it would melt the music box inside. Good Luck.

InactiveDylan has dust mite allergies, but has a favorite few, so I throw them all in the washer in HOT water once a week to kill any dustmites, and then dry them all. They don’t last as long, but then we don’t have as many either…..
Curious what others are doing…..July 23, 2007 at 10:55 am #39741Anonymous
InactiveI just put them in a pillowcase and wash them in the washing machine and then dry them like normal. It’s worked fine for me. They aren’t as cute after you wash them…
, but at least they’re clean.July 23, 2007 at 4:17 pm #39771Anonymous
InactiveYep,me too. The tag always says “spot-clean”but how is that going to get all the drool and spit-up off?!!! I throw them in the wash on delicate and let them airdry…..the pillowcase and the dryer is a good idea! Thanks Amy for posting this! I was wondering about this too!

InactiveI vacuum all of the stuffed animals in my kids’ rooms. I’m sure it doesn’t get them as clean as a good spin in the washing machine, but it does remove alot of dust.

InactiveI have a few stuffed dogs that Ariella loves to play with. They’re huge (she rolls around on them) and they wouldn’t fit in the washing machine. How can I clean the big ones?

InactiveMaybe take them to the laundermat and use their super size washers. That’s what I do with our quilts and comforters since they don’t fit in our washer.

InactiveChristine, I thought the same thing only I’m afraid there will be nothing left of them if I wash them…Maybe I should vacuum clean them even though that wouldn’t take care of the dust as a good spin in the washing machine would. mariannardh2007-07-25 16:05:22
