Connor is still having major nursing issues. He cries, arches, squirms, etc. and won’t eat unless he’s asleep. He’s on Prevacid solutabs (7.5 in the am and 7.5 in the pm). None of his Dr.s feel comfortable raising the dose. The ped G.I. doc wants him to try Levsin before a meal to stop stomach cramping. He prescribed it a while ago but when I did a search on the internet I found info liking it to SIDS (I’ll admit – I don’t know how reliable that info is). Just wondering if anyone else knows much about this. It’s also called hyoscyamine. Thanks!!
i think that there have been other infants on this board that have been given levsin. it is an antispasmodic, i think. i was given it about 20 years ago—-but i don’t remember anything about it.
We have used it in the past. Its no miracle drug but it did seem to help when Colt had major gas. I think there are others on here that have used it too. I don’t think it would hurt to at least try it. Let us know if it helps.
Our ped prescribed Levsin when Caden was only 6 weeks old. It did nothing for him. Of course, we thought it was gas then and found out later his main problem was silent reflux, so it makes sense that it wouldn’t help him.
We used it as a last attempt as well. Did nothing for Shane. It is an antispasmadic med. So, if that might be the issue with cramping.. than i’d give it a try. I don’t think the med is a dangerous one.. it is pretty basic and used to be used a lot for kids who had “colic”.
