InactiveHi All!
I haven’t been around for the last week or so, we had Dagney’s follow-up visit after her endoscopy, then went on vacation the next day. We went to the beach for a few days, which was very nice, but it’s also good to be home!Well, at the visit last Friday, the doc told us, like she had said following the endoscopy, that everything looked fine in there, and also informed us that all the biopsies came back negative–which wasn’t really a concern for us, but still a relief to hear it in the end. Dagney just needs a bit more time to grow out of all of this. She did want us to cut back her Prevacid to 22.5mg/day (change from 10mg to 7.5mg 3x/day), which we did on Sunday, and it seems to be going so far so good. She also wants us to transition off of Neocate after 1 week of the lower Prevacid dose. Initially she said to go right to soy milk (Dagney will be just over 11 months when we start the transition), which I said I was a little scared to do, so she said go to Nutramigen 1st then we’ll see her again in about 6-8 weeks and talk about soy then. After everything I’ve experienced and read on this board, I’m thinking I may wait until almost 2 weeks on the lower dose of Prevacid to start the Nutramigen transition, just to be safe. She said to start out with 1ounce Nutramigen/7oz Neocate per bottle on the first day, then the 2nd day do 2/6, and on the 3rd 3/5 etc until we’re all Nutramigen. Has anyone else transitioned this way? I know many of you have transitioned much slower, but was wondering if anyone else has done it this way? I think she thinks Dagney’s ready as there was no damage on the inside, and since we’re transitioning to still a hypoallergenic formula, things shouldn’t be as scarey! So far so good…I have to go finish unpacking from vacation & getting things in “order” (yah right!) here, but any input would be appreciated!August 11, 2007 at 7:25 am #40881Anonymous

InactiveGood news about her test results.
I would definitely do two weeks on the lower dose before adding Nutramigen. And then I’d probably do two weeks of 2-4 ounces per day of Nutramigen before going up any higher in ounces. I think your doc’s idea is probaby fine but I’d want to be more cautious and from all I’ve read here it can take two weeks for these proteins to build up. If you’re already up to full strenght Nutramigen in two weeks and then find that she can’t tolerate it she may not go back to Neocate because of the taste. That’s just my opinion. I tend to be overly cautious.
Good luck! -
