Rice cereal thickening I have read alot of good info on here. I just want to make sure I am getting this right. My baby is on Elecare forumla now. So ya’ll are saying in the stuff I have read that I should use Beechnut or Earth best rice cereal because there is not soy in it. So do yall use the other cereals? Did ya’ll see a diffenct in using the earthsbest or beechnut? Did it make a diffecnt right away? We have bben on the Elecare fora little over 2 wks and i have been using the earthbest. For 2 days on ( knock on wood) we have not had any spitting up. What do yall think it is the new formula or the earths best or both? TopangasMommy2007-08-12 18:11:32

It’s hard to say which is helping. Thickening does help some babies, but if she needed an elemental formula then the Elecare is likely working as well. In any case, I’m happy to hear that she’s doing better. You can always stop the cereal and see if she still does well on Elecare alone.

I agree that it’s hard to tell which one is working. I think if she is gaining too much weight then it would ok to keep giving her cereal. Plus elemental formulas always seem more watery to me. I agree with Christine if stop the cereal and the vomitting comes back then you will know if it was helping.
