InactiveLet me start off by saying Maggie is doing beautifully on zegerid. She now weighs a whopping 11 pounds 7 ounces at 3 1/2 months old. When she spits up in does not contain acid (we test it every once in a while with ph paper). She is really a happy camper. She still is projectile vomiting. It does not effect her at all but it sure is scary for us. It is so violent when it happens. I am so scared that she is going to choke if we are not around. This morning it was so forceful, it got in her eyes and was dripping plus all over her hair etc. When I say dripping we soaked a towel cleaning it up. My 8 year old started crying because of how forceful it was this morning. Any one have any ideas how to tame this? I am so scared she is going to choke in her sleep.

InactiveWhen my daughter was an infant the first 2-3 months of her life she was doing that daily. VERY scary. First off have you eliminated all milk products, including hidden dairy from your diet if you are breastfeeding? Or if not get rid of milk based formulas. Once I eliminated all milk from my diet the vomiting stopped for good within weeks. It seems milk is behind projectile voimiting most of the time.
Also, we kept her with us at all times, so she wouldn’t choke. I do not want to scare you, but I will be honest. I personally feel when a baby is vomiting like that it can be a life and death situation. I had her sleep in bed with us or in the bassinette right next to us so I could keep an eye on her. Her choking in her sleep or while I was asleep was a very real fear. When she was a newborn in the hospital and my husband was asleep and I was laying down I happened to look over at her in that bed and saw her laying there helpless with vomit filling her mouth, and it wasn’t flowing out it was sitting there. I knew she was choking, I had to run over, pick her up, and help her. I hate to think of what would’ve happened if we had both been asleep. After that I didn’t sleep for 3 days.I know where you are coming from, just keep a good eye on her. Inform your GI/Dr. as well, and put her to sleep on her side, can you believe that was the only advice the ped Dr. gave me when I told him of my fear?BIG HUGZ,JuliaMommyofTwo2007-08-14 13:05:35

InactiveThanks Julia for you help.
We have done the elimination diet when she first got sick with no luck at all and a few weeks a go she had bad diarrhea again cut out all dairy from my diet.We have not ever left her alone. Thankfully she has been holding her head up since birth and has been able to roll since birth too. I am just ready for her to be out of this phase as it can be so scary. -
