InactiveOk, a little background info. Danni is 11.5 months and weighs 19lbs4ozs. Recently had an upper GI that comfirmed her reflux is severe. Med was changed from zantac to prevacid 15mg twice a day. She finally had a somewhat decent night last night, only woke up screaming twice!
We have an appt with a specialist but he can’t see her until oct 15th. She is also very allergic to milk. About 10 days ago she had a few bites of birthday cake and immediately had stomach cramps and gas and a little later, diareaha. Then a few days later she had a hamburger happy meal and again got sick. She is still having really horrible smelling diapers and tummy trouble. I am almost positive it is not teething because, from experience, it doesn’t smell like “teething poop”. Questions: Does prevacid cause really stinky poop? Is it true that after eating an allergy food, it can take a few weeks to get over it? Any idea why her reflux got worse instead of better with age? If you can think of anything I need to know please post it. I am new to all of this and could use lots of help!
Thanks!
Cherie

InactiveIt can take up to 2 weeks for the prevacid to kick in. Make sure that you are giving on an empty stomach and then following with a meal 30-60 min later. I know that prevacid can cause stomach cramps in some babies, but it usually goes away after a few weeks. I don’t know about the poop smelling bad, we are on Nutramigen and ours always smell bad. I would think it would take awhile for her to feel better since she had 2 exposures to allergy foods within a few days, so just give it time. Don’t know about reflux getting worse with age, but I do know that it has its ups and downs and flare ups etc. Hang in there.

InactiveI agree with everthing Beth has said. My little guy used to get tummy cramps from Prevacid, but that subsided after about two weeks as his body adjusted to the medication.
I don’t remember him having stinky poops from the Prevacid. Could she have a virus? Stinky diarrhea is a classic sign of a stomach bug. What is she eating now?

InactiveBrian is 3 1/2 months old and he is on 22.5 mg of Prevacid and Good Start formula and his poops are very stinky. Sometimes they are yellow, sometimes green. He doesn’t seem to have stomach cramps from the Prevacid.

InactiveI try and avoid any kinds of seasoning with ALana, they set her bowels of big time!
