Sarah’s pediatrician left when Sarah was 12 months old and I dragged my feet on getting her into a new one. I should say I was LUCKY I didn’t have to find one sooner!!! (no illness, ear infections, etc…) Anyway, there is a newer ped. in my hometown so I was excited not to have to drive 30 minutes to the next town over anymore. I didn’t actually get to meet her, I saw her nurse practitioner. He was fantastic! It made me realize what DUD we had with the old ped. If she hadn’t been such a pushover on getting Sarah the reflux meds she needed, I would have dumped her a long time ago.
It was refreshing to talk with a doctor who was knowledgeable and took the time to visit for quite a while. He seemed very up to date on reflux and current treatments. I was filling him in on Sarah’s past reflux history and told him that it took 4 long months to get her on the right meds. He said “It wouldn’t have taken that long if you would have come to me first!” He regularly prescribes Prevacid and had never heard of zegerid. He asked me all sorts of questions about it and asked me to explain why I liked it so much. What made it better than prevacid in my opinion etc…I told him about marci-kids and he said he would do his research on it but really wanted a “moms” perspective on why zegerid was a good choice. I REALLY FELT SPECIAL that I could share it with him without having him roll his eyes or blow me off because I’m NOT the doctor! I left there feeling like I have hopefully helped out other families!!! It was great! I didn’t mean to make this a marathon post…just wanted to share that we seem to have found one of the RARE good doctors!!!
