InactiveI don’t want to use harsh chemicals on Ariella’s clothes so I was wondering if there is a stain remover that can be used on her clothes. She’s been very good at getting stains all over her pants (since she’s all over the place). They are very cute outfits and I feel terrible throwing them out. Thank you.

InactiveI use shout and oxy clean and I usually rinse any bad stain immediately with cold water to get as much out that way as possible.

InactiveI always rinse as soon as possible if feasible.
If it’s an oily stain, put baby powder on it first, it will pull the oil out of the clothing, no need to throw it out. Other than that, I am a huge OxyClean and Spray N Wash fan over here. And my older one (will be 3 in Dec) can REALLY stain up some clothing!!!

InactiveJill, unfortunately, some of the stain has set in. My mother in law watches her during the day and if Ariella stains something, she won’t even notice unless I point it out.

InactiveIt’s funny how I hear so much about OxiClean. I was never happy with the result. Maybe I didn’t use it correctly?

InactiveUgh, once it’s set in I spray it hard core with spray n wash and put some Dreft detergent directly on the bad spots and hope for the best.

InactiveWe use the dreft baby stain remover one. I think it is pretty gentle.. I love their laundry detergent as well.

InactiveI’m not sure what you consider harsh chemicals so I’ll post what I do/use and if you want to try it you can…if not that’s up to you!
The miracle stain treatment…even removes those set in baby urp stains that mysteriously appear on stuff that’s been packed away!
In the washer set it to hot/cold and a large load. After the washer has filled, add 1C Cascade Powdered Dishwasher detergent & 1 Cap full of Clorox2 Colorsafe bleach. Let it agitate for a minute to mix the stuff into the water, THEN add the clothing that is to be treated.
Agitate for about 15min (until the end of the cycle) then stop the cycle (for me if I just leave the lid of the washer open it automatically stops at the end of the cycle) and let the load sit overnight or at least 12 hours.
In the morning, shut the lid or turn the washer back on to drain the water and complete the rest of the wash cycles.
Rewash as normal & dry as normal.
Sadly, if you have already run it through the dryer this may not work as heat sets stains in…but it’s worth a shot right!?
Also the other thing to try is a boiling Oxyclean treatment…
Get a big stockpot and fill it about 1/3 full of water…bring it to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat source and add a scoop of Oxyclean. The stuff will foam up BIG time…put the garment in that needs to be treated and swirl around with a wooden spoon for about 5-10 minutes. Remove the item and let it cool, then rinse with cool water and check the stain…if it’s been removed then toss it in the wash with a normal load of laundry. If it’s still there, repeat the boil.
I’m anal about my daughter’s clothes and I’ve only lost ONE outfit to a stain so far…a dry-erase marker.

InactiveI also use the baby oxi clean and it works pretty well. I have started to add one scoop to every load of his clothes. There are some white t-shirts he has though that no matter what I do, they just won’t come clean!
OH, how do you use the oxi clean? I let the washer fill up some with water and add the detg. and then the oxi clean…… heavily stained clothes may take more than one washing but I’ve even been able to get out red stains from clothes this way (accidently put a red shirt in with a load of light clothes and it bled).Mom2Seth2007-09-21 10:49:45

InactiveI just saw an commercial for a new Shout stain remover that’s specifically for set-in stains. I haven’t tried it yet, but I might have to pick up a bottle! I’ve never had luck with set in stains.

InactiveI do all my laundry and Kendra’s dirty cloth diapers with Sport-Wash detergent by Atsko, found in the hunting/camping area at walmart. It leaves no residue and has worked great so far to get rid of the poo stains
. It says it removes odors, blood and grass stain. With tough stains, i pre-soak for 30 minutes. I haven’t gotten rid of All of the stains i got, but most of them by using this. Also i have tried Biz, Oxi clean (a good on, like other said) and Borax. you can find them all at Walmart. I haven’t have much luck with shout. kendramom2007-09-21 13:31:36September 21, 2007 at 2:19 pm #43053Anonymous
InactiveOh, the other thing that works well is Fels Naptha bar soap…I use that when I’m doing a boiling Oxy treatment if the stain is being really problematic.

InactiveI didn’t read through all the posts so I am not sure if anyone’s recommended it, but Dreft makes a spray on stain remover and it is the best! I recently bought a consignment white BabyGap sweater for my dd and it had a pink stain on the front in 3 places…looked like a juice stain. And it worked perfectly! You can’t see the stain at all now! I have been using it since Addy was tiny and its worked on everything! However, it is hard to find…they have it at Babies R Us and my Mom mails it to us since we do not have one here.
