InactiveI have heard a bunch of bad stuff about the caliphon pots and pans that I have. Its like tephlon and I hear that the metals go into your food..and are toxic. Something along that sort.
Does anyone know what kind are good? What are safe? And is this true?? We spent a lot of money on these..and dont want to replace them unless its real. Has anyone else heard this? And if so, what kind do you use?September 20, 2007 at 6:50 am #42948Anonymous
InactiveI don’t have a clue. I just know not to put them in the dishwasher and that is about all I know. I have pots and pans that are anodized aluminum so I think they are similar to caphalon…. Nothing is safe these days.

InactiveOh, gosh….What’s next? The immunizations we give our kids are not safe. The bottles we feed our kids with are not safe. The toys we buy our children are not safe. The cribs we put our babies to sleep in may not be safe and now the pots and pans that we cook in and feed our children are not safe? Seriously, what’s next??? (Lauren, this is nothing against you..just venting). Oh, and to answer you question, I haven’t heard anything like it but it doesn’t mean that it’s not true.

Inactiveeeek! I’ve heard of teflon (sp) being bad, but not caliphon (sp). I use stainless cookware. Maybe someone else can chime in.

InactiveYou know, i was talking to my mom a whiile ago and we were joking that we need to go back to the olden days when things were no so modern, like cooking from scracth (so we can avoid some chemicals added to food, which can cause cancer), among others. Of course most people work and most people hate to clean and cook every day (iam one of them
). Ok. i use stainless steel cook ware and coated frying pan (i guess that is teflon??), . I refused to cook with aluminum pans.Unfortunately comfort (or easy)has its price.ok nothing to do with the post, but thought i will add this:i love my coffe with splenda and i just found this article about the dangerous of Sucrose (main ingredient in it). I have been using it for a while. So…… i have to figue something else out!Trying to leave a healthy life style is “insane”September 20, 2007 at 10:44 pm #43018Anonymous
Inactivehey leo.. i have the perfect thing for you.. its called agave nectar. its a syrupy sweetener.. but one of the healthiest forms of a sugar. i like it, and it goes great in coffee. we get ours at the health food store.

OMG, that’s all I use is non-stick! Eeeeeek! Nothing seems safe anymore, geeeez.September 21, 2007 at 1:49 pm #43046Anonymous
InactiveI had heard that teflon was unsafe & if you had scratches in it, you should throw them out & replace…but I never heard you weren’t supposed to put them in the dishwasher! UGH, I’ve been doing that forever!!!
I do have stainless pots & pans, though, I never got used to the nonstick pans…I just read an article about all the artificial sweeteners being bad too…I know they’re not great, but is it as bad as it makes it sound, or another alarmist? I love Coke Zero and put sweet & low or splenda in my coffee everyday…am I taking my life in my own hands? Is 1 coffee & maybe 1 Diet soda/day really going to harm us, or would we need to drink mass quantities of the artificial sweetener to really be affected??? It’s really hard to figure these things out!September 21, 2007 at 2:25 pm #43054Anonymous
InactiveJust wanted to add that i went and bought “organic light blue agave nectar” and it tastes even better than Splenda. One serving has only 15 calories and it is sooo sweet. So i guess i found a good replacement for the splenda.
thanks again for recomending it
As for the diet coke, it has Aspartame in it. Aspartame concerns me, so i would not drink diet Coke. I would think that drinking too much of it coud be a problem, but i wouln’t know. Good luck in whatever you decide.
