Help!

Ashlynn has been so good the last two months and now we our back to not wanting to sleep in our bed, crying etc..

She is currently on Nexium 20mg which i divide into 2 equal parts and giver her one half am and then the other half in the eveing. Should I give her another 1/2 dose over the weekend and call her gi dr mon or wait til monday and then see if we can up the dose? She did not sleep verygood at daycare today 30mintues here and there. She is screaming again when we lay in her bed.

So her Nexiun would be a total of 30mg

she weighs close to 17lbs

Hi Stacey! I’m sorry to hear that Ashlynn is not comfortable. It sounds to me like she does need a higher dose. I’m not familiar with nexium so I don’t know an appropriate dose for her weight. Although I am not a doctor, I HAVE increased Sarah’s meds on my own without consulting the doctor until I saw that it was working. If you feel comfortable trying the higher dose, I’m sure that it won’t hurt anything. Good luck! I know Monday probably seems like an eternity from now!

poor Ashlynn!

I’d prob try upping the dose myself then if you think your gi will work with you. Are you using powder packets to create the lemon suspension with the 15 mls water? It is ok when refrigerated, so you could open another packet and save the extra…You can also email Dr. Phillips at Marci-Kids to see exactly how long it is stable in the fridge.

Another option- have u tried Pepcid Complete? We use that at night and it works really well. I’ve emailed Dr. Phillips for the dose and at 17lbs it was 1/2 chewable tablet dissolved in 1 tsp water. It needs to be spaced 4 hrs from the last nexium dose though.

I agree with the other ladies. Why wait to see if the gi will up it? Your her momma and the best dr. she has.
