InactiveI just received my shipment of CaraCream and have been giving it to Austin since Monday evening. I know he is on a low dose for his weight (15mg total per day) but he was doing so-so with the Prevacid capsules on applesauce, with Zantac in between. The issue is that it’s very difficult to time the medicine with his meals, so I thought the CaraCream would be the answer. Well, the last three days, Austin has been out of control with screaming and crying after feedings. He also seems very gassy when eating, as well as spitting up a TON! I didn’t give him the CaraCream today and he was a little better. Has anyone else had an experience like this with CaraCream? Does it get better if his little system gets used to it? If not, if anyone needs CaraCream, I have 12 kits to get off my hands. Thanks so much for any feedback. I have never seen Austin so miserable, even in the worst of the beginning reflux days.

InactiveHmm… my little one was OK with the Prevacid in CaraCream, but she didn’t like the flavour of it. How were you directed to mix it?

InactiveI got the instructions from MARCI kids as follows: add 16 of the 15mg capsules to the buffer, mix, and refrigerate for ten minutes. Then, add the CaraCream powder and give 2.5ml 2 x per day. Does that sound accurate? It doesn’t even seem like the dosing was the issue, even though it is lower than MARCI kids recommends. He also doesn’t mind the taste and sucks it right down. I am so discouraged because I really prayed that CaraCream would help us.

InactiveMy guess is it could be the sodium bicarbonate bothering Austin. CaraCream is similar (or almost the same) to Zegerid and Landen could not take Zegerid b/c the sodium bothered him so much! Just a thought.

InactiveCaraCream can have side effects, though it seems they are uncommon. You can find more info here:
I hope its not the CaraCream, I know how much I’ve pinned my hopes on it and I’m glad to say that so far so good for us.
