Inactivequite awhile ago our ped gi told us that if we were having some ongoing intestinal problems that we should check our well water. he mentioned something about people having problems with well bacteria on grandview lane, which is above us—we live at the bottom of the hill. this doctor lives 3 hours away from us and he was aware that there were wells in burley that were contaminated with bacteria. i’m guessing he must have had some patients from the hill above us. kevin asked the pump people about bacteria, but they told him that the ground dirt would filter it out and that it shouldn’t be a problem—-so we never tested it. we have had alot of vague intestinal problems for awhile, but nothing overwhelming. we just had to have the well tested because of the house sale—-and there was bacteria in our well water!!! i don’t know how long it has been there—-and we always said how much we like our well water. i wonder how much this has been affecting us.

Inactivedon’t mean to insult your doc, christine, but he’s crazy! dh works for the dept of health and regularly tests well water for these reasons (unexplained illnesses, house sales, etc). there could be a number of reasons why you have bacteria in the water, one of which could be a cracked well-casing. is this from your old home or your new?
hope you all feel better soon! if you have any questions, my dh would be more than happy to answer them for you.

Inactivegina—our doc isn’t crazy—-there has really been an ongoing problem with the wells above us of because the septic tanks were built too close to the wells—-i was just surprised that our doc ,who lives 3 hours away, knew about the problems with the wells. at one time the city didn’t seem to want to let them hook onto city water—-they were kind of stuck—but i don;’t know all the details or how it finally worked out.
this is the well water from our old home that had a problem. the deal has closed—we sighned the papers yestersday, so apparently the problem was solved. we had no problem when we bought the house. our agent told us that somethimes it is just something as simple as dirt having gotten into the well.
our knew house is in town and we are on city water. kevin replaced most of the galvaniZed pipes with pex and the water sure taste better than it did before (city water)—–and it is already starting to feel much mor like home!October 14, 2007 at 9:49 am #44199Anonymous

i’m glad things are better and you guys are closed on the deal. do you feel any better about moving now? i hope you do and things get easier and easier.

Inactivegina—your apologiy was sweet—but i don’t think i was offended—i really hadn’t made myself very clear when i related what our doc had said to us.
