InactiveI use to mix my formula with room temp water. But then heard some say that using warmer water helps dissolve the formula better. But then I also heard that mixing it with warm water and then putting it in the fridge can cause bacteria to grow. So to only use warm water if you are giving the bottle right away. So confused. Any thoughts….

InactiveHmmm….I never heard about the warm water and bacteria thing. I always used to mix it first with warm water and then put it in the fridge for later.
The instructions on the can do say you can prepare formula ahead of time, but I don’t remember if it says anything about the temp of the water. I know warm water works better though…

InactiveWe used to steralize the water and then put it in a nalgene bottle and leave at room temp. Never heard of that either about the warm water thing…. We used to mix every bottle fresh as the water was always ready.

InactiveI just use tap water and I mix one scoop at a time as it dissolves better for me that way. So for our 6oz bottles, I put in 6oz of tap water, I guess room temp and then put in 1 scoop of formula and shake and then the 2nd scoop and shake and then the 3rd scoop and shake, otherwise I get clumps so that is what works for me. HTH.

InactiveI did hear that too.. warm to cold water grows bacteria. So.. i guess I would do it as close to room temp as possible when mixing it. When I used to store it in the fridge what I would do was mix the formula and water in the blender first. So, if you use cooler water you can mix it in the blender with the formula and it should mix well! And this way it comes out thicker too! (a bonus for reflux babies) 😉 Or you can use the already made formulas and pour from them. shanesmom2007-11-01 17:32:34

Inactivewe always used the bottled nursery water so it was room temperture. I have always heard though that if you boil water to let it cool off before making bottles. I don’t know if it was due to bacteria concerns or not though. I have heard that though when cookign with warm water so it makes sense. I’d say if there are any doubts, then err on the side of caution.
