InactiveSorry for all the posts but am still trying to get to the bottom of Ian’s discomfort. He’s back on prevacid -now day 5 and doing a little better then prilosec-actually had a good couple of days. But the reflux still seems out of control-coughing, phelm spit up, congestion. Hope it won’t take longer to kick in as I’m terrified of wretching and another vomit with blood-eek.
My question is actually related to the antibiotic-amoxocillin Ian just finished 10days for ear infection (now clear-had it checked). He had terrible mucousy stools for last few days and now I think in the last one it looked like a little bit of brownish jellylike blood. Not dark red so wondering if it’s darker mucous or blood. Is it possible he’s allergic to the antibiotic or is this stress on his digestive system. I’m bringing the diaper to GI tomorrow. IS HE GOING TO BE ALLERGIC TO EVERYTHING??? This is so crazy to me as allergies don’t run in either family. It’s not the prevacid, right? He was on it for 3 months prior-solutabs.
Thanks for support or insights.

InactiveOh my gosh Tracy! I don’t know what to say, except that I really feel for you and can imagine how awful, and scary, and confusing this is. I really hope that it is not blood (he only had the endo and not the flex sig, right?). Keep us posted.

InactiveThanks Lori-it’s been pretty awful-last night he woke up with the loudest scream I’ve ever heard from him-is it possible there are nightmares at this age?
No, he had a flex sig and endoscopy. They never did a rectal biopsy. Would that have showed anything additional?
Also, I hope Sarah’s out there somewhere…Wondering how her course of the antibiotics was going…

InactiveOh no – what time today do you see Dr. M?

InactiveOkay, so poop had no blood in it-that’s the good news. However, GI took the diaper to be tested for everything in depth because of Ian’s irritability, lack of sleep, and just the sheer amount of mucus present. He had another poop today-diarrhea (now 2 days off antibiotic) with mucus – although a little less mucus I think. How long does diarrhea tend to last after finishing antibiotics? If anyone knows..
Mood seems better today (even if his night was awful). Naps are fine and he’s playing with actual smiles. Only two crying fits so far-a step up. Dr. wants to do a ph probe on Monday to make sure prevacid is doing the job as the endoscopy showed damage and then we’ll decide on those results if we need to do something with barium (yuck). She was very good with us today and said they’ve been discussing Ian’s slides at conferences! We have back up plans and know where we’re going so that’s all I can ask. I explained to her, it’s not personal when I question your diagnosis’ or medication suggestions, but rather a general interest in my son getting better! I think we’ve made peace.

InactiveIt sounds like he is doing better minus the digestive issues! I hope the ph probe helps you out a lot and makes Ian feel so much better!

InactiveI’m so glad you had a good appointment today and have come to terms
with Dr. M. And I’m glad she has a plan in place. So the PH probe is
happening Monday? Did they have any ideas at her conferences? -
