InactiveAfter looking at reviews of neocate I decided to give the G I a call and let them know how my son was acting and asked them if we could try neocate and they were more than happy to let us try even gave me a months supply to try. They told me breastfeed and use the elimanation diet and supplement with neocate today has been the first day and my son has been AMAZING!!!! NO CRYING, REFLUXING OR SEEMING TO BE IN PAIN. THANK GOD…. Can this work this fast????? I hope this is a sign that things are finally going to work out and he will be in way less pain… What A relief……

InactiveThat’s wonderful!! It may still take a couple weeks to get all of the milk proteins out of his system, so hopefully he will just continue to improve. And hooray for the months supply! We noticed some immediate improvement with Paige when we changed to Neocate too (I wasn’t BFing at the time).

InactiveYea for the good news!!!
When I started the TED with Nathan (the breastfeeding equivalent of Neocate, I believe), we saw dramatic improvement almost immediately!! The first two days were absolutely perfect, and he never had another “bad” feeding again (screaming during nursing, arching, latching on/off a hundred times, etc.) unless I ate something with a lot of protein in it. But after the first couple of days, he did start sleeping poorly again and it was obvious that he still had plain old GERD — in addition to protein intolerances. So we got him on a marci-kids.com dose of Prevacid, and everything came together. All this to say that since you already see such improvement with Neocate, that is probably a big piece of the puzzle to getting your son complete reflief — and maybe even all you need to do (I don’t remember if he’s on meds right now?) But don’t worry if it’s still not enough — my son needed both TED breastmilk and a high PPI dose to really get relief.Good luck!!March 27, 2008 at 10:07 pm #49497Anonymous

InactiveThat’s awesome. I hope it works out for you. I have gone through ten formulas and they always seemed great the first few days. We’re currently on Similac Alimentum which she likes the best. I hope, for both of you, that this is the miracle cure for him.
I have heard that some insurances will pay for Neocate.
Good luck!
