InactiveMy son had his prevacid upped slightly last Friday (7.5mg in morning and 3.75 in evening) well he is still having reflux issues at night. I have an email into the doc (way she said to get in contact with her) about increasing his meds to 7.5 both times. She wrote the prescription for 7.5 twice a day but wanted to try the lower dose first so I know she was thinking about it. If I don’t hear back from her I was thinking of just upping it myself tonight. What do you think?

InactiveI would up his dosage tonight! That is a really low dose to begin with and it still seems low with the 7.5 twice a day but i could be wrong!

InactiveThanks. he is doing great during the day. He is eating tons (about 30 ounces of bottles/ 4 jars of stage 2 foods and 2/3 cup of cereal) and is back to his happy little self so I know the little increase is helping him but I hate giving him meds when he doesn’t need them. My gut is telling me to increase but this reflux always has me questioning my gut…

InactiveI would try the lowest dose possible and up it if necessary.

InactiveIf you say he’s having problems at night, I’d try the increase – since
your doctor already wrote the script for it, thus agreeing. But see if
he emails you back first. Or maybe if you haven’t heard back by midday
give a call or fax? What kind of problems is he having at night?

InactiveHe is waking up screaming, arching his back and moving his feet all over. If I pick him up and cuddle him it helps but then I can’t put him down.

InactiveDoc emailed back and said to up it to 7.5mg in the evening also so hopefully that will help my little man.

InactiveCory, my little girl Ryann is a month older than your Ryan and she is on 30 mgs of prevacid split 3x a day. She was started out on 15 mg split 2x a day at 8 weeks old. The increase stopped her arching and screaming. I think that in a couple weeks you should see some marked improvement. If it doesn’t get better, then print out the dosage chart and research articles from marci-kids.com and take them into or fax them to your doc. Interesting that the docs are working off of research that is 10 years old. Its so hard with our silent refluxers because I feel like the docs don’t pay attention if they are gaining weight and not spitting up. Don’t they know the babies are getting a double burn?? Crazy! Good luck with the increase. Post back on how he feels. Sarah
