InactiveOther then reflux….
ThanksAugust 6, 2008 at 1:54 pm #55098Anonymous
InactiveWe had upper & lower scopes last wk (EDG & colonoscopy). For the upper scopes they were looking for esophogael thrush, ulcers, etc. He took multiple biopsies. For the colonoscopy he looked for inflammation, allergic colitis, polyps, c-diff, etc. He also took multiple biopsies. I’m sure there are other things they look for but there were the things our ped-gi mentioned to me. Fwiw though, we had scopes b/c of continued blood in stool… don’t know if he would have done them for just (haha) discomfort.

InactiveExactly, mine wont scope becaue I ask either. BTW, is everything OK?

InactiveUpper showed no thrush & no ulcers. Lower showed inflammation/allergic colitis & a tear near his rectum. We should hear the biopsy results today. He’s definitely getting to be a happier little guy, but still a horrible sleeper. Thanks for asking.
I think I would wait another wk or 2, try to get her constipation issues regulated & then if still misery then push for scopes. Good Luck.August 6, 2008 at 2:08 pm #55107Anonymous
InactivePoor little one. What, if anything, can they do for the inflammation and colitis? I assume this is from the MSPI? How long has he been on Prev now? I’m SO happy to hear he’s doing better-despite his tests:(

InactiveWe just have to wait for it to heal. Yes, it’s from MSPI for sure, but probably more likely MFPI (multiple food protein intolerance). Since I’m nursing I’ve been on TED (minus many things) for 5+wks now eating basically pears, potatoes & squash/zucchini. He finally had regular diapers this past weekend so I’ve been trying to add in some more foods but he’s reacted negatively to them each time.
He’s been on Prevacid since 4wks old, so 7 wks now. But ironically we haven’t given Prevacid since his procedures last wk (couldn’t give them the day of) & he’s been happier & able to play on his back on the floor, etc. Not sleeping better, but not sleeping worse either.August 6, 2008 at 2:23 pm #55111Anonymous
InactiveYou’re kidding?! Wow..makes me wonder for sure. Are you going to kep him off the meds?? I’m not breastfeeding so I cant imagine the TED, that must be so hard for you! I was just reading that Alimentum RTF doesn’t have milk protien, do you know if that’s true? I wonder because if it is, it may be far better for Catelin’s constipation issues then this darn Neocate!

InactiveI meant to ask you about his sleeping habits…what are they like? What do you attribute them to?

InactiveWe are going to see how it goes for the next wk or so & then decide about the meds. I figure if he was having reflux pain he would definitely let us know! The thing I worry about is if we end up starting him back on Prevacid it will then take the 2wks to start working again… but we have some Zanac for coverage if we get to that point.I think one of them (Alimentum RTF or Nutramigen RTF) doesn’t have corn in them (as most others do) but don’t know about the milk protein. I’m sure someone else knows the answer to that. For daytime sleep he only sleeps in the swing or in the Moby wrap & it’s still a chore to get him to sleep many times. Usually only naps 20-30 min @ a time. For nighttime he starts in his crib around 9pm (has to be rocked until in a very deep sleep before laying down) & then only sleeps until midnight or 1am. After that he sleeps in bed w/ us for the rest of the night b/c if not then he’s up every 30min or so all night long. Some nights I end up putting him in the swing around 5am b/c he’s so restless & squirmy in bed w/ me.August 6, 2008 at 2:47 pm #55115Anonymous
InactiveOh boy, I hope it wont take the 2 weeks- actually, i hope he wont need it at all!! I am so conflicted about Catelin being on all these meds but want to give it a full 3 weeks(a friend on the board said her sone took 3+ weeks for a full change). I actually took Catelin to a ped chiropractor today(said sheepishly). I am typically so skeptical of these types of things but figured, what do I have to lose(excpet the $120 for a 10 minute visit, lol). Who knows, we’l see how it goes.
It makes me feel better to know that Catelin isnt alone in her sleep issues. I was really starting to think that something more was wrong with her. You mentioned Evan is restless? Does he squirm a lot? Catelin certainly does but this seems to have calmed since starting the Prevacid(or it’s my new sleep technique). I dont know about Evan but Catelin will only get into a deep sleep while being cradled against my chest. I figured out a way to simulate that position by using the boppy. Dare I say this but…she’s been sleeping for almost two hours in said postion!!How are you managing with such little sleep? Is he fussy while awake or mainly happy? -
