Ok, I am starting to get very frustrated. I took both Dakota and Logan to the GI doc today and They are supposed to try axid instead of zantac (doesn’t work for them) but the insurance company is fighting me on this. I have to wait 5-7 days to see IF the doc can get a prior authorization. Also I brought up the dosage for their prevacid (both on 15mg a day weighing 17lb 3oz and 13lbs 15oz). I told him that from what I understand that is a low dose. He goes “where did you get that from, that is perfectly good dose for thier weights and if we raise it it can cause serious side effects” URGH! This is a pediatric GI doc who should know. They are still refluxing pretty bad. Not as irritable and are eating better, but if they are still refluxing bad and irritate thier esophagus’ again, we are all back to square one and I might just end up in the psych ward cause I don’t know how much more of this I can take. It kills me seeing my babies in pain. Also he told me to give them Gaviscon, not mylanta, which looking at the bottle it has aluminum and I thought that wasn’t good for them (or maybe I screwed that up in my mind). I don’t even know if I am coming or going these days. Anyway has anyone had any luck with Axid, and how about Gaviscon? I know he said to give the axid and prevacid 4 hours apart but I can give the Gaviscon 2 hours in between them. Axid dose is (17lbs 3oz – 2mls 2xday for week 1 and then 2.2mls 2x day after that) and (13lbs 15oz – 1.5mls 2xday for week 1 and 2mls 2xday after that).
