InactiveI need some help PLEASE!!!
I try to keep Jack to a regular schdule but he never naps the same. some days he sleeps 1 hour to 1.5 hours in the am and a 2 hour in the pm and maybe a 30 min early evening. Or he takes a couple 45 min naps or an hour nap than 2 45 min naps. It’s really nuts!!! But now his night time sleeping has gotten worse and I am really considering CIO because the pick up/put down doesn’t work and now just putting his binky back in his mouth fails. I have to rock and feed him in order for him to go back to sleep but sometimes the feeding part doesn’t work. He will go down between 7-7:30pm and he back up sometimes at 9pm or 11pm than he’s up at 3am ( sometimes earlier) and then at 5 am and then between 6 and 7am.
are there any good books on CIO because I can’t take it anymore!
well now he’s up after only an hour of sleeping and a 6 ozs bottle.
HELP!!!

InactiveCris,
Are you SURE that his reflux is under control? Is his dose of ppi drug high enough for his current weight? You can check that info here: http://www.marci-kids.com
I would be hesitant to try CIO if you aren’t sure that the reflux is completely under control. Is he teething? Teething can change a baby who has reflux under control with meds into a baby with horrible sleeping patterns and awful pain from reflux. Our ped gi and ped both told me separately that teething can make reflux 10 times worse for the period of time of the teething. OFten, once the teething session or attack is over, things go back to what they were.

InactiveChris, like anne said… that is a low dose of ppi. I had to take things into my own hands and play around with the dose a litte. We increased it and her sleeping got better, so I knew her pain was not under control. Also, I gave her some zantac at night during bad acid times. I do use cio now that she is older, but only for 5 mins. She is at the point now where she wakes up and is learning to calm herslef back to sleep. I guess its not like i let her majorly cry, i just let her fuss a little and whine in her crib. She sleeps most nights now, but day sleeping is just a hit or miss. Also, she is doing great in her wedge and sling on an incline. We are using the danny sling now. I know how you feel about the lack of sleep. It would be nice to get a straight 8 hours some time!
