Has anyone noticed a reaction at all between Antibiotics and PPI’s? Should I be giving these 2 medicines at different times of the day? Tessa has a double ear infection right now, but she’s been increasingly fussy since starting on the antibiotic. Not sure if it’s because her antibiotic is affecting her Zegerid or if it’s just because she’s not feeling well.

She is currently on 6 ml twice a day of Amoxicillen and 20 mg daily of Zegerid.

Read the info that comes with the antibiotics. I can’t remember exactly, but it does seem like there was a warning not to give acid reducers at the same time. Seems like this was with Augmentin though, not Amoxicillen. Just read the info, and call the pharmacist to double check.

Nothing mentioned in the info and the pharmacist says they shouldn’t react to each other. But this is the same pharmacist that told me the Prevacid compound wouldn’t break down and the flavoring wouldn’t affect it’s potency, so I thought I should double check here.

I’m thinking she’s just not feeling well and fussy.

Amoxicillin a antibiotic drug acts by
culminating the growth of the bacterial colonies and finally destroys them.
Generic Amoxil cures the bacterial infections within 5 to 7 days after you start
taking this medication. It treats the infections caused by aerobic as well as

ZEGERID is a combination of omeprazole,
a proton-pump inhibitor, and sodium bicarbonate, an antacid.
Omeprazole is a
substituted benzimidazole,
5-methoxy-2-[[(4-methoxy-3,5-dimethyl-2-pyridinyl)methyl]sulfinyl]-1H-benzimidazole,

a racemic mixture of two enantiomers that inhibits gastric acid
secretion.ZEGERID is supplied as immediate-release capsules and unit-dose packets

powder for oral suspension.
