YAY! Our ped GI said he would call in a script for me tomorrow morning! This after I faxed him a bunch of info I found here and on marci-kids.com. He was still reluctant but came around eventually. We are paying out of pocket for it as insurance doesn’t cover it, so I sure hope it works.

Now, I assume that I should continue with Zantac, but for how long? When should we expect to see improvement?

I swear I cried tears of joy when I got the news–hope at last!

Hooray!!! Good for you for faxing the information and getting what you need for your baby.

Most people say it takes two weeks for the PPI’s to work. I noticed some improvement right away, but the really good days didn’t happen until about 10 days into it.

Definitely continue with the Zantac until the PPI is working fully. Most people say to give it 2 – 4 hours before or after the PPI. You may want to email Joel and ask him for sure. Here’s his email. andrewsjj@health.missouri.edu

If you need answers fast, you can look up a post i made a couple months ago, where Joel answered everything you asked. Do a search for zegerid under medicines. I think he said it only took a few days to take full effect (we switched from prevacid to zegerid). It was nice not to wait 30 mins before feeding her. Good luck, and yes we used zantac in between, but we spaced it out 4-6 hours apart from the zergerid, probably alittle much but I wanted things to work right.
