InactiveMy son was just tested today for milk, soy, nuts, wheat, cats, dogs, etc. and the skin test came back negative. The allergist said that it was gerd and mspi. I guess I just feel at a loss, b/c it seems that the negative results don’t really change anything for him. We’ve been told again to wait and see and we’ll try meds. for GERD if the congestion continues (he’s had chronic ear infections, which we just got tubes for(finally- after fighting for that) and the congestion was gone for about a week and is back again.) I’m so tired of wait and see and was wondering if there were any tests I should be requesting for the intolerance issues and gerd or if wait and see is the best I can do for my baby- I just feel like I’m failing him. I keep trying and fighting but just when I feel like I’ve got drs. listening I hear wait and see again. Feelin a little frustrated and confused. Hope for some help here.

InactiveI see that he isn’t a year old yet right? Most allergy testing isn’t accurate until they are at least 1yr old and most like to wait until later than that. We didn’t do testing until Cooper was 18 months old. At that point I had to fight to have him tested for Enviro allergies as they don’t usually test for those until age 3! But b/c I knew he had allergies they did it and he tested positive to tons of environmental stuff (dogs, cats, dust mites, multiple tree pollens, weeds etc) and luckily only tested positive to eggs food wise… but I think if we had tested sooner than 12 months he may not have tested positive for anything. I might wait 6 months or so and then have him retested. HTH.

Inactiveyou could request a scope and a ph probe. this is also prime time for seasonal allergies to be gearing up, which could be causing the congestion, also.

InactiveWe just went through the same testing and it was negative too. I am curious are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding? I am breastfeeding and have pulled so much from my diet and am not seeing any differences. I have thought about formula but at this point I am worried that wont work then I have closed the door on breastfeeding??

InactiveSawyer is bottle fed- we went through every formula imaginable and the first he didn’t react to was Neocate. We feel blessed to have found the neocate.
I’m hopeful that it isn’t allergies, but not convinced yet and still feel nervous- my husband is ready to feed him macaroni and cheese- eek
And it sounds like the validity of tests b4 a year is in question- so thank you for the suggestions I will request further testing in the future.
