InactiveWow, it has been a long time-84 pages of active topics! Congrats to all the new and expectant moms! We have been doing quite well. Sydney is still med/reflux free. We are doing great on solids and scooting around/babbling like crazy!
I did need to get some mom opinions or advice and this site has the most knowledgeable moms I know. Saturday Sydney woke up with a horrible rash. It hasn’t gone away and the dr doesn’t seem to know what it is. No new foods, detergents or medecines. No other symptoms like vomiting, fever, or diarrhea.
Here are some pics:

Any thoughts? TIA!

InactiveThat rash looks viral, not allergic. I would take her to the doc again. Maybe someone else has another opinion, but better safe than sorry. Glad to hear she is doing so well otherwise. Keep us posted.
SORRY Mary, in my sleep deprived state, I missed the sentence that the doc doesn’t know what it is. Is she bothered by it?

InactiveI agree with Lori. Might she have roseola?

InactiveAidan had this same rash at about the same age as Sydney!! It was roseola,
and it looked exactely the same. Covering about the same percentage of his
body as what Sydney’s experiencing. I took him to the doctor and was told it
was viral and that Aidan had probably picked it up at either the pulm’s or the
GI’s office (so much for clean tables!!!), but I was told it would pass in about
2 weeks. The Dr. told me I could give benedryl if Aidan seemed to be
bothered by it (it may itch) but Aidan never seemed affected. The same time
Aidan had it a past co-worker also got it. It was even scarier seeing a 6 foot
3 man covered!!! Same with him though, never itched, just had to pass. I’m
thinking that Aidan’s looked better around the day 10 mark, but please don’t
quote me on that!! Good luck and let us know what the doctor says if you
go!!

InactiveIt actually doesn’t look like roseola to me (or maybe my daughter’s presentation was much worse). From what I know about roseola, it starts with a high fever for a few days without any other symptoms, then the fever breaks and a rash appears. The dots are more like small spots, usually no more than a few millimeters in size. They don’t itch. Sydney’s rash looks almost hive-like in the picture, but it’s hard to tell for sure. My daughter once got a rash like that- but MUCH milder- after what seemed like a typical cold virus. The doc said it was post-viral and suggested Benadryl. Hope it passes soon.

InactiveThank you for the feedback. No, it doesn’t bother her at all. We had her on Benadryl. It didn’t seem to help any and since she had never taken it before, I was afraid it might be doing more harm than good. So, she is off of that unless she becomes uncomfortable. I think it may be viral too, but it is strange that she showed no signs of illness prior to the rash appearing. The dr *thinks* it sort of looks like Erythema Multiforme. I am not so sure though. They said if it gets in her mouth to come back in and if it crusts around her eyes, take her to the ER immediately. They also gave us the two week mark for it to clear.
Some of it does look look hives, but no itching. She had a much milder version in reaction to pears before. So, I am not totally discounting an allergic reaction either. Thanks again for all your responses. Take care!
