InactiveHi all, I haven’t been around for awhile. I have Bo who is now 10 months old, just shy of 20#, on prevacid capsules 7.5 mg 2x/day with caracream. He was sleeping better a few months ago (only waking 2-3x/night). But, then started waking up to 10x/night. I am exhausted. The ped won’t increase his prevacid. I am still breastfeeding. He is only solids also. I did the real strict diet for awhile with not much change. I started addind some similac sensitive about 2 months ago because he was still nursing soooo much. He liked it, but then the more frequent waking started happening. Maybe due to formula? But he also has been on more solids too. What do I do? I don’t know what is causing him to wake up all the time. Maybe teething, but advil doesn’t help. Please help!!!!

InactiveI would switch to neocate as the similac sensitive (not sure) probably is a milk based product. That definitely could be affecting him. I would give it a good two weeks to get the other stuff out of his system, but sounds like intolerance to the formula. It may not have been obvious at first as sometimes it takes a bit to build up in his system….

InactiveIt could certainly be related to the formula – what do his stools look like? He *could* need a more hypo formula… BUT if you said he was sleeping “okay” (not great, but not horrible) with you eating a ‘normal’ diet (& his stools were okay during this time too) then it may not be the formula. I know that’s confusing – hope it makes sense.
My ds was able to be completely off reflux meds while ‘just’ breastfeeding (with a very restricted diet)… but when he started solids – even mild stuff like squash – he started waking a TON. Since his stools were ‘normal’ we put him back on Prevacid & he immediately started sleeping better. So, my deduction was that his reflux/acid was under control w/ a liquid-only diet…but with the addition of solids he needed more help controlling it (which I was totally fine with putting/keeping him on the Prevacid). SO, all that to say that this could certainly be your ds’s problem as well.
Also, what kind of solids is he eating?! Again, this goes back to intolerances/allergies & maybe he’s reacting to something he’s eating?! What do his stools consistently look like?!
Finally (& I realize you know this)… his dose is low for his age/weight. This is most likely a large part of his waking as well. Have you tried going through his general ped (if you’ve been dealing w/ ped GI for med issues)?! Printing & taking in &/or faxing ALL the marci-kids info, etc, etc.
I know that’s a lot of info… hang in there!
