InactiveSo we went back to the dr yesterday b/c there was tiny specks of blood in his poop. Told to continue to TED diet and scheduled an upper GI. I also trie dto discuss the marci-kids dosing, was told they “don’t want to push the envelope” and that the GI would be the one to consider that. (We are seeing the GI in early Jan)
The dr did change the Prev dos from 7.5 mg daily to 7.5 twice daily. That is still about 7.5 mg below what Marci-kids recommends. ANyway, I might have “slipped up” and given him 15mg at bedtime. He slept until from 9-12 (hasn’t done this in about a week, and I have noticed he usually wakes up around midnight) and I got him back to sleep while I held him for the next couple of hours. The only discomfort seemed to be A LOT of rubbing his nose against me. He ate around 3 and when I laid him back down, he was moving around (twisting and turning- I swaddle him) but stayed asleep- no crying until 7. And then it was only fussing.Do you think the prevacid might be kicking in? He had been on 2.5 ml Prilosec 2xday up until this point. This morning he will get 7.5mg of the Prevacid and another dose at bedtime. I might repeat the same dose I did last night- see what happens.December 4, 2009 at 11:11 am #64902Anonymous
InactiveYes, sounds like the Prevacid is working & increase in dose worked as well. When Evan was on 22.5 mg/day (until about 8 wks old – then we switched to 30mg/day) we did like you: 7.5mg in a.m. & 15mg in p.m.
Congrats!

InactiveThanks for the encouragement!!
Did your dr support your dosage or was that your decison? Just curious..December 4, 2009 at 9:47 pm #64927Anonymous
InactiveOur ped GI didn’t/doesn’t support the dose (still doesn’t but now we just don’t bring it up when we go in for a check-up)… but our general ped did/does. Our general ped is the one that dosed the 22.5mg @ 5 wks old & the 30 mg @ 8 wks old (& still writes Evan’s 30mg scripts currently). I faxed him explaining Evan’s issues & that we were having trouble communciating w/ the ped GI office (& that they were not listening to me/us). I also included ALL the marci-kids physician info + the recommended dosing chart + the dosing calculator w/ Evan’s weight & age already entered… I faxed all of that & a couple hours later he called the script in. We’ve since become very close-lol since we’re in there often & he has thanked me for giving him all the marci-kids stuff, etc. I know we’re lucky to have a doctor that was willing to listen & read (especially something ‘from the internet’) but I also included Dr. Phillips’ contact info (from marci-kids) w/ his email address too.

InactiveYou are very lucky. My dr saw the info I had brought, but made no move to read it. He just told me that as a parent, it’s NOT my job to do research, it’s theirs as the dr’s! Well then why don’t they…
