My little girl is exclusively BF and she is getting up every 2hrs to eat!!

I can’t get any sleep and am starting to lose it! What can I do?? GI doc doesn’t want me to start cereal until 6mths.

Tonight I thawed out some BM and feed it to her after she nursed to get somre more in her so she might feel full. It was 2oz and she left about 1/2oz of it so she wasn’t starving!

Help!!

I have tried to switch her meds around giving her the full 15mg solutab at evening in case it is her belly bothering her. I also tried to give her the Zantac at 2am last night to see if it helped her and of course not she was up again at 4am!

This has been going on for awhile.

I also swaddled her tonight before going to bed (a good friend told me to try this) will see how she does.

In my opinion, if she’s 5 months old, she’s not hungry every 2 hours. It seems like she’s getting up to comfort nurse. Of course, she could be sick, or going through a growth spurt or teething. Is her reflux under control? If so, I would maybe try some gentle sleep training. Like, maybe let her fuss a bit and see if she goes back to sleep? If you are willing to do some sleep training, now is probably a good time b/c you def. don’t want her to make a habit out of getting up every 2 hrs!

I can empathize with you, as I was looking back at my notes and our little guy was getting up 4 and 5 times a night at 5 months. It was rough! The first six months were the hardest for him. We found that he has a milk, soy protein intolerance, so it might be something to conisder to try and cut some things out of your diet and see if that helps.

Hopefully the swadling will help. You can also raise the crib mattress on one end if you are comfortable doing this to help keep her upright.

Our doc recommended us starting cereal at 4 months, but obviously that didn’t help much with his night-time waking. We also bottle-fed and thickened with soy-free oatmeal cereal… we actually still do.

Just hang in there! It will get better!
