ARRRGGGHH!!!
My poor little girl’s allergies are so bad that her face was red & swollen with red hive/blotches and her eyes were all puffed up and burning after 20 mins outside yesterday!! She’s on Zyrtec, Nasonex, and now Singulair and an antihistamine eye drop (and they upped her Zyrtec & Nasonex doses), and she’s still uncomfy with a blotch on her face and her eyes are still burning and puffy! I feel so bad for her!! We knew here allergies were bad, but this is ridiculous!! We just so happen to have a follow-up appt w/ the allergist on Tuesday, so hopefully he’ll have something else for us to try.April 9, 2010 at 10:28 pm #66169AnonymousInactiveOh Denise that is horrible. Cooper is on all those meds minus the eye drops and so far so good, but he is starting to drool again which means his nose is clogged and he is mouth breathing… I feel your pain. Hope Dagney starts feeling better. What I do with Cooper when we play outside is 1- he can’t go out before 10am b/c before then the allergens are the highest and I ALWAYS wash his hands/face and change his clothes when he comes in, you may already do these things but it seems to help us. HUGS…

Can they test for babies this young?April 10, 2010 at 1:16 pm #66175AnonymousInactiveThat sounds terrible! I hope she feels better soon. My dh has severe environmental allergies to almost everything, and it’s quite miserable to watch.

April 13, 2010 at 2:21 pm #66190AnonymousInactiveDenise, I feel your pain. It is our area right now. it is TERRIBLE this year! Neither of my boys are usually terrible with outdoor allergies but this year, they have them BAD! Kaden has the splotches all over his face, trunk and arms. He is just itchy, itchy, itchy, sneezing, coughing, etc. Landen has the eyes that water constantly! I am even suffereing which isn’t typical and DH (our usual allergy sufferer) says this is the worst year yet!
Both boys are taking Zyrtec right now, but its only merely taking the edge off.
I hope the allergist can help poor Dagney!
April 26, 2010 at 2:11 am #66261AnonymousInactiveThanks, ladies. Dagney’s still on all the meds and still a little puffy in her eyes most days. I feel so bad for her. She’s been crankier than normal lately, and I know it’s from the allergies. She must be in such a fog, I wish there was something more we could do for her. The allergist was pretty grim at the follow-up appt. He basically said we’re probably going to have to put her on shots, that when they’re this young and this bad (and she was already on zyrtec & nasonex when the terrible reaction occurred), they don’t generally get better, they’ll either get worse or stay the same, so shots would be the only other option. (or if there’s anothe flare like that, steroids to calm that down, but since it has calmed down quite a bit, she doesn’t need them now). The only problem with the shots at this young an age is that the kids don’t always know if they’re having adverse effects to the shots and won’t say anything if they are. I’m just hoping the season ends soon and my sweet little non-puffy-eyed girl comes back!!
