Well I just mentioned to my dr that i was exhausted all of the time and he sent me for blood work and an ekg. The ekg came back abnormal and i was sent to the er right away. From that point i was admitted to the hospital b/c my cardiac enzymes and white blood cell count were both elevated from the blood work. To make a long story short the drs never figured out what is going on and my ekg and blood work is still abnormal. I was alone for most of the time there and my dh had to call off of work to watch Isaac and occasionally my mom or dh mom watched him. The dr wanted me to stay another night and I finally just said that i wanted to go home and i could not take another night there. It was the longest i was away from Isaac and it was heartbreaking-I just kept crying the whole time. Now i go back to the dr on thursday and we will talk about what we need to do from there. I am only 24, i don’t smoke or drink, and i am not fat so i am completely lost on how something could be wrong with my heart!

April 27, 2006 at 12:27 pm #6992AnonymousInactiveWell my dr said that they found that my heart was inflamed but that is nothing serious at all. He said that sometimes happens during pregnancy and childbirth and it usually takes about a year to get back to normal but i go back in 2 weeks to check my blood again.
Thank you for your kind thoughts! I really appreciate it!

So glad to hear that it is nothing serious and sorry you had to go through all the worrying!!
April 27, 2006 at 1:02 pm #6997AnonymousInactiveGreat news!!!! You must have been so scared! I know that whenever I am sick or have a health crisis my immediate concern is my children. It’s terrifying to think if not being able to care for them.
Anyway, I’m happy you are o.k. and I’m wondering if you could tell me more about this. I began having very odd symptoms early in my third pregnancy….shortness of breath and chest discomfort. I thought I was having a heart attack. I was so scared. I had an EKG and it was normal and my doctors don’t think anything is wrong with my heart. Now my son is 7 months old and I still have this odd feeling in my chest from time to time. Do you feel that way? I wonder if my heart is enlarged from pregnancy, too.
I’d appreciate anything you can tell me about it. Thanks, and again, I’m glad you are o.k.

recently feeling that way too and after bloodwork found out I was
pretty severely Vitamin D and iron deficient – might be worth looking
into?April 27, 2006 at 3:09 pm #7009AnonymousInactiveSarah,
So glad it turned out to be okay! Is it pericarditis, by any chance? Both of my sisters have had this and it turned out fine. Glad to know it’s nothing serious.
April 27, 2006 at 6:40 pm #7021AnonymousInactiveChristine, That is exactly how i feel! Mine started during the 5th month that i was preggo and just kept on going. There is a small possiblity that it is asthma but the dr seriously doubts that! I would probably go and get it checked out just to make sure b/c sometimes a vitamin deficiancy is to blame. Let me know if you do get it checked out!
Lori, I am really not at all sure about the technical term but i know it is not scary or bad at all!
