My daughter is 3 year old, 36 month old exactly, she’s been
on prevacid since she was 20month, so its about 16 months on prevacid.
She was gagging and throw up so bad thats why her doctor started her with prevacid.
Her dose is 7.5mg and never more than that.
Her gagging and throwing up episode dissapear about 80% after
prevacid, well she has a sensitive gag reflex too, and she can’t running
around so hard or she will throw up.
We did a scope to rule out EE, and everything was came back normal.
We’ve been soo many times trying to wean her off from prevacid and no luck, the gagging and throwing up always came back.
Last time, we off for 2 weeks, and then, her appetite went down, she
gag alot, she throw up more often and she lost weight, went from 36lbs
to 34lbs.
So we put her back to prevacid, but I cut her prevacid till 3.75mg (half from 7.5mg her regular dose).
And she’s fine, she’s eating again and gag n throwing up improve and
disapear about 90%, well like I said, she never 100% gag free due to
sensitive gag reflex.
I know that she has sensitive gag reflex, because we on therapy for that, the gag usually worse in the morning /after nap.
Anyone baby has been on prevacid for so long?
I’m affraid about the long term effect on her.
