InactiveOK, here’s what worked potty training wise for my older son, he wasn’t completely trained til 3 ( and still wet the bed til 4). i put blue food coloring in the toilet (using those blue toilet cleaning disc things works 2) then told him that if he went peepee in the potty, the water would magically change color ( blue and yellow make green right? 😉 )..he was really fascinated by that. As for poo-pooing well uhh, ok I straight up bribed him for that one. I used to give him a hot wheels car every time he made it.

InactiveHi everyone, well, it’s nearly a month on and I apologise for not having acknowledged your responses. I did read them and they were helpful, but for a couple of weeks at least everything was pretty difficult. Night times are okayish now – I’ve come to a sort of compromise where Paolo comes back into our bed at some point in the night – although Marcus is still wetting himself and often just appears in our bed as well. He’s stopped with the daytime accidents and I think (hope) it’s because he’s a little bit happier. We have our lovely childminder sorted out now and I’ve been determined to spend more time on myself – I’ve been doing yoga, cycling a bit when I have the opportunity, sitting down to eat lunch properly and I’ve even booked a massage. So nothing external has changed much but I’m feeling a bit better.
Marcus is dead against wearing nappies again, but I have a cunning plan – we have some new pajamas hidden away and some cloth trainer pants on order – when the trainer pants arrive we will say he can wear his new pajamas if he wears these special pajama pants in bed. I hope it will work, it will certainly mean far less washing even if they leak onto the pajamas a little.
I do occasionally wonder if the cow’s milk is causing problems again, but to be honest, he hardly has any because Paolo and I are still avoiding it like the plague.
We’re not seeing any medics again until May (I think) but they are suggesting that Paolo could get better in that time. I’m certainly feeling better enough myself to consider weaning off the domperidone, and I’ve started to drop one of the doses.
And the good thing about my work is that virtually all the students in my class are also mums (I teach for the Open University). So while it’s still stressful going back again, I can mention family stuff and be met with murmurs of comprehension and empathy rather than blank faces.
