We really need some help. Alex had been doing really well. We stopped oatmeal in bottle due to so much mucous type vomiting. When I stopped the oatmeal she got better. We went weeks with no throwing up and taking 20-24 oz a day (in 6 to 8 oz amounts at one time) with small amount of solids – very small amounts. She began refusing to eat over the last month. She did cut a front tooth and the one next to it is swollen but does not look like it it coming out any time soon. When I go to give her solids she clamps her mouth and turns her head. She has also stopped taking large amounts of forumla – she is down to 2 oz at a time. Now we are feeding her about every 1-2 hours during the day. She seems to have a little measuring cup in her stomach because she will push the bottle away at exactly 2 oz. She turned 11 months yesterday – which is adjusted to 8 months due to the prematurity, and weighs about 14.5 lbs – not growing much lately. OT has not been much help and the home health services we have does not have speech available. Does anyone have any suggestions????? I have given her a break over the last 2 days from solids because it has gotten so bad. She will put everything else in her mouth except for a food item. She will not even get it close to her lips. Someone please help
It sounds like teething to me. Isaac gets like that when he is teething really badly or is about to have a cold or virus. The only things that will help teething are tylenol, motrin, orajel, benadryl, and the tooth finally coming through. I hope she starts eating again soon!
