InactiveI’m so frustrated…Alexis had her tonsils, adenoids, and ear tubes placement surgery in March 2006 and since then she has had 2 rounds of strep throat. This past time the first abx Omnicef for 10 days didn’t get rid of it and now she is on Suprax day 7 of 10 and I think she still has it, since she is still waking up at night crying, taking large gulps swallows of her salvia, I have to give her Advil every night so she can sleep. We are suppose to go back after 2 weeks to get tested again, if she still has strep she’s going to be on abx for 3 months as preventive. They think I’m the carrier so I went to see her ENT last week and he too believes my tonsils are too big and most likely the carrier, so I need to schedule for a tonsil removal myself! Hopefully that will solve the problem, but having tonsils removed at my age I heard is very hard and on top of that taking care of a busy 2 year old and a 2 month old with eatting problems that we haven’t gotten to the bottom of the problem yet, still crying with each feeding and now having problems with her lower GI is going to be very hard. But it has to be done so Alexis doesn’t get strep anymore. Now we have to disinfect everything in the house!! Thanks for listening to me vent!

InactiveOh no Sue – I’m so sorry to hear this and I hope that your tonsil
removal isn’t too rough and helps solve this problem. And I hope things
improve with Taylor soon too – big hugs to you and your whole family.June 11, 2006 at 8:15 am #9554Anonymous
InactiveSue I am so sorry!! I was thinking of you the other day and hoping things were a little better. I had my tonsils removed when i was 18 or 20? so pretty late and the first day was a bit tough but it was because of the intubation rather than the tonsils themselves… hope your surgery goes well… keep us updated!

Inactiveoh that’s awful!! Poor alexis, My older son had strep twice in a row (well no one is sure if he got reinfected or it just never went away)After 2 rounds of failed antibiotics (amoxicilian and Augmenton) I basically begged them to give him a z-pac(he’s old enough to swallow pills) He will probably have his adnoids out next spring too…as for the disinfecting, i LOVE LOVE the clorox anywhere spray, it kills 99.9 percent of germs but is safe enough to use around food, and on baby toys etc..it’s not cheap but I swear by the stuff…I hope everything goes ok, and Alexis feels better soon!!!!
