InactiveMy son started out on pepcid and it did nothing for him, so the ped put him on prevacid. I was told to keep him on the pepcid until the prevacid kicks in. My question is how do I know for sure when the prevacid has kicked in? Do I go by a few good days or just wait for the 2 wks. and then take him off the pepcid. Also, do I just take him off the pepcid cold turkey?
Thanks for all replys.

Keymasteroh my it was EVIDENT when the PPI kicked in for Jonah- we saw some improvement but oh my goodness on day 12 it was like a miracle happened

so Id say give it the full 14 days unless you see the improvement beofrehand….

InactiveI would just continue with the Pepcid for at least two weeks. Yes, you can just quit it cold turkey. You might even need to give it occationally even after the PPI has kicked in.

InactiveWith Myles he starting having better days at around 10 days, but they got even better after 12 – 14 days. I’d keep him on the Pepcid the full two weeks. Good luck. I hope happy baby days are coming soon.

InactiveThank you. I have seen a lot of improvement in my little one, but we still have our days. He is a lot easier to deal with than my first. He doesn’t cry all that much. It’s just really hard to get him to go to sleep, keep him asleep, and he pulls on me when I’m breastfeeding him. The pulling keeps me sore. He actually sleeps better than my first, but it’s still not much.
Another question I have is, he is all of a sudden choking when he eats. I don’t know if that is a reflux thing or not. My first never did it. I don’t think it is oal. I have started trying to feed him more upright and since I have been doing that the choking has started. I have read about choking somewhere on here, but don’t know if they said it was reflux related.
Sorry to ask so many questions. It seems like I am on here every day with a new question, but he is very different than my first. I also know that the ped probably won’t have the answers.

InactiveMy son has always choked a lot. When eating or just during the day. I assume it is the reflux. He also always has a stuff nose. Of course every time I have asked the ped. about it he says it is not all from the reflux, he has a little virus. If that is the case then his little virus has lasted 6 months!
I am sure it is the stuff coming up and getting caught in his throat. He is not much of a spitter so he would probably not choke as much if he spit it out.
I am glad to hear that Justice is feeling better, I hope he keeps improving.

InactiveThat sounds just like mine. My little doesn’t spit up much either and he also has a stuffy nose. Our ped said the nose was probably due to allergies, but I have heard other reflux moms say theirs had the same thing. Thank you for your reply. It really helps.
