InactiveHello everyone
My daughter (2months on the 25th) is currently taking zantac. I asked the doctor if she could put her on a ppi since reading on here it seems like you moms have better luck with them. Well anyways she prescribed her prevacid. Well i was wondering if something else does better then the zantac but is not as expensive as the prevacid? The pharmacist told me that the prevacid is only good for 2 weeks and since it is a compound insurance doesn’t cover it. Well i can’t afford 50 bucks every two weeks.

Keymasterif your doctor prescribes the compound and writes out the prescription for compounded prevacid, insurance should cover it. You might just have to fight this, *sigh*. There’s a way to fight insurance, there’s a link called ‘Going to the Top’ located towards the end of my welcome/intro.
there are also prevacid solutabs that can be dissolved in water & given to your baby.
there’s a link called ‘Prevacid 101’ from my welcome/intro as well

if I or someone else haven’t given you the link to my welcome/intro, then I wholeheartedly appologize, here it is:
please find the time to read this- bookmark it & come back to it, as it’s long

, but it really will help you!!

Inactivethat’s the same boat I’m in (sort of) our insurance won’t cover the soultabs and they’re about that price, 114 a month..aren’t insurance companies lovely?(we have medicaid so there’s no possible way they’ll cover them, they said they’ll only cover soltabs if the child has a feeding tube..ugh)

InactiveYou don’t have to get it compounded. The doctor can write a script for Prevacid packets…you mix it at home. If I remember correctly it’s just 2 TBS of water per 1 packet.

InactiveUnder the Miscellaneous form under “going to the top” I have posted info on the Children’s Miracle Network program which helped us pay for 3 months of our formula. I know that in the letter, it also said they help cover the costs of medications that insurance or other sources won’t cover. May be worth looking into

InactivePrevacid packets are different than solutabs. The solutabs are actually pills that dissolve fast in water. The packets is a poweder.
