InactiveWe have been going to Chiropractor Brandon Heck in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Carson’s reflux is SOOOO much better. We are happy and very comfortable. Our nights and our naps are Superb. I cannot say enough about what Dr. Heck has done for us; however!!!, Carson has a touchy tummy-food wise. He basically cannot tolerate a lot of proteins in foods. He cannot tolerate dairy, soy, wheat, corn, oats. Has anyone else out here had this with their child? Is it fairly common to have such a touchy tummy? I am very hopeful that when his reflux has calmed down he will be able to tolerate more? Anyone else gone through such food aversions? I pray he will not be on a gluten-free diet, but since he also cannot tolerate dairy and soy, I am hoping he will outgrow it. Anyone “been there”? Thank you.

InactiveI should probably tell you that when Carson has a “bit” of something he shouldn’t, we see that he has bumps on his chin and tummy. However, when I “tried” a piece of cheese to see if he could tolerate it, he cried that afternoon for almost an hour and a half and he also will then get bumps on his trunk and chin. Thank you for any responses. I think Carson is small because we do have to limit what he gets to eat. He can have all the carrots, green beans, rice and chicken he wants, but you don’t get a whole lot of calories from those healthy foods!

Keymasterthe bumps soind like more than a ‘food aversion’…sounds like an intolerance or allergy…
try some good fats to help him gain- like avocado and try adding flax seed oil to the foods he eats…also ask at the health food market about avocado oil…how about enriched rice milk? add flax seed oil to that?
if you look through the mspi ‘page’ linked from my welcome/intro you should find a lot of links to help you

InactiveI thought my son was intolerant of many protiens as well. I was thinking dairy, soy and gluten. I found a website that tests for “some” protien intolerances. http://www.enterolab.com
I always wondered about other protiens as well, but this site at least gave me some definitive answers to what to stay away from. In our case, it is gluten for sure. The milk test was a little iffy, but I’ve found he can tolerate Pediasure without lactose. Interesting, huh? So it may just be the lactose instead of the milk protien itself for us. Also interestingly enough, once I took out what the real culprit was–gluten–he is tolerating the other things better.
It’s really worth getting some for sure answers on.
BTW- My family would always say,”He’s fine. Why are you doing all this testing to him. He doesn’t need it. He looks healthy.” They don’t live with him and sleep with him. He didn’t sleep well at all. Especially if his diet had something different in it. And he’s had unexplained rashes since he was born. You know the golden rule…You know your child better than anyone.
