My son is 6 mos old and is currently on 15 mg of Prevacid. We have tried 30 mg (15mg 2x day), however, he has a reaction to it. I was wondering if anyone thinks that Mylanta would help, and if so how much should he take? He weighs 20 lbs. Thanks in advance for any input.
mylanta (mylanta cherry supreme) can help, but in my (humble) opinion, it’s just a quick fix, like a band-aid. but hey, we all need a quick fix once in a while, don’t get me wrong! at 6months he can get a lot I’d bet- the sign to know it’s too much is loose stools…if a newborn can have a teaspoon a day (spread out) then he can have that much and more
also, maybe try increasing the prevacid slowly? like if he can’t handle 30mgs a day, maybe 20ish?
We have been using the Solutabs since he was 8 wks old. He is a wonderful sleeper at night, but has been really whiny, cranky during the day lately. I am beginning to think it’s just him teething, but I tend to always look back at the reflux. Thanks for the info!
teething does aggrivate reflux because it creates histamines which
produce acid. many babies who are teething need an increased dose of
PPI until the teething subsides.
also, the solutabs have lactose and aspartame in them which can upset some babies.
