So I went and saw a ped today cause Skylar’s reflux has gotten worse and she spits up her zantac, after its swallowed mind you. Well he checked her out, felt her belly and listened to it and told me to lower the dose from 1 ml 2x a day to 1/2 ml 2x a day, said we were giving her too much, but thats whats on the bottle. I dont know how they figure it out but today she weighed 9lb 15.4oz.

Well we go back to her two month well baby check up on 3 weeks so we’ll see if she’s doing better. She kept the 1 ml down I gave her this morning and things are going better.

A) there’s a link from the “medicines’ forum of how to calculate zantac dosing

1) go to the ‘Medicine’ forum

2) click on the top post: ‘treating GERD w/ PPIs’ (yeah, I know I’m talking about zantac, not a PPI)

3) scroll down to the purple post & the link (about zantac dosing) is there on the top

B) calculate the proper dose for your little one according to weight (we can help you if you need it)

C) then you can mix the zantac w/ mylanta (cherry supreme) to help it not taste so bad

Talked with my mom who is a pharm tech and she was getting too much, almost the adult recommended doseage. Thats why the doc said to lower the doseage. She does fine with taking it. I measure our the amount and poor it into a nipple and she does fine taking it that way. She is doing soo much better, so far, today.

some babies need adult doses! my son needs even higher than adult doses! just a thought!
