InactiveI need some recipes for the elimination diet. I am thinking about doing the elimination diet, but I am going to need some good recipes or else my husband is not going to be happy about it. Not saying he has to eat what I eat, but it would help for a few meals anyway.
Thank you, Shelby

Keymastershelby,
can you explain a little more? what are you planning on eating and/or eliminating?
do you ‘just’ need recipes that are (completely) milk & soy free, as you’ve already cut out ‘blatant’ milk and soy from your diet?
are you using your current diet and eliminating from there, perhaps adding to your list of what you’re eliminating (like cutting out wheat and rice)?
Or, are you doing the Dr. Sear’s Elimination diet for 2 weeks where you eat nothing but free range lamb and ground turkey, potatoes, rice, and yellow squash?

InactiveI was planning on doing the dr sears elimination diet and was looking for meal and snack ideas. I talked to a friend of mine though and she kind of talked me out of it. What is so confusing is that he slept fine for awhile and then all of a sudden this hit. She said it sounds like something has changed, but for the life of me I can’t think of what has changed. I don’t know anymore. I just told my dad about it and he said it sounds like sleep apnea to him. I did a search and found a lady who has a baby with sleep apnea. I am running it all by her to see if it sounds like sleep apnea to her. I really don’t want to do all kinds of testing just to find out it’s something really simple.
However, I think recipe ideas would be great for the moms thinking about doing the diet. it might make it not seem so bad.
Thank you again Laura for all that you do.

Keymasterwell it’s (elimination diet) really not so bad- but my gut feeling in your case would maybe to try cutting out all dairy and soy, including hidden, for 2 weeks and see if it makes any difference at all- bcse those are the ‘major’ proteins in mspi &, if you’ve seen an improvement with not eating ‘obvious’ milk & soy, then maybe there’ll be more improvements with no milk and soy…

InactiveJust wanted to update you Laura. I e-mailed Dr James Mckenna and he e-mailed me back to say that he didn’t think it was my diet or anything for that matter that is making Justice not sleep. He said some babies just don’t sleep much. Not happy about it, but hey what can I do? I would still love to do a sleep study, but I don’t think my husband would go for that.
Thanks for all your research. I think I am still going to cut out all hidden dairy and soy just to see if it makes a difference.

Inactiveyeah i would def. recommend cutting out all dairy and soy. so mnay babaies with reflux have mspi, and so many doctors dismiss it.
i was told by doctors that his formula has nothing to do with his reflux. he was put on zegerid and did fine for a while and then his reflux was back 100%. turns out the milk proteins from alimentum built up in his system and damaged the GI tract. once i swithced him to neocate, he was 100% better.September 21, 2006 at 8:14 pm #14047Anonymous
InactiveWhat are the symptoms you see for sleep apnea?? I know that something was posted about this a couple of days ago…. stops breathing for periods of time and then wakes up for a few seconds (or maybe more) and gasps for air?? i think that was it. if you think you see these symptoms, get the sleep study – you know better (although i posted to you that you can have a child that sleeps very little like Matthew but 6hours maximum seems strange)
